Lead Complex Coastal & Maritime Projects Across Australia

We're seeking an experienced Principal Coastal Engineer to join KBR Brisbane to play a key leadership role within their Maritime team. This is an opportunity to lead the delivery of complex coastal engineering projects, provide technical direction across a diverse portfolio, and help shape the future capability of an established coastal engineering team.

Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, clients and stakeholders, you'll apply your expertise across coastal processes, numerical modelling, coastal protection design, dredging and maritime infrastructure projects while mentoring and developing engineers within the business.

The Opportunity:

As a Principal Coastal Engineer, you'll provide technical leadership across a broad range of coastal and maritime projects, from concept development through to detailed design and project delivery. You'll also contribute to business growth through client engagement, proposal development and project management activities.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Leading coastal engineering and coastal process investigations
  • Providing technical oversight of coastal numerical modelling, including wave, hydrodynamic and sediment transport studies
  • Delivering coastal protection solutions such as seawalls, revetments and groynes
  • Supporting dredging design, disposal assessment and environmental plume modelling
  • Managing and delivering coastal engineering projects to budget, schedule and quality requirements
  • Mentoring and developing engineers and technical professionals
  • Reviewing designs, technical reports and project documentation
  • Building and maintaining strong client and stakeholder relationships
  • Contributing to proposals, tenders and business development activities
  • Collaborating across multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver integrated project outcomes

About You:

We're interested in speaking with experienced Coastal engineers who combine strong technical capability with a collaborative approach to leadership and relationship building.

You'll likely bring:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
  • Extensive experience in coastal engineering, coastal processes and maritime infrastructure projects
  • Strong technical knowledge across coastal modelling and engineering design
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams and mentoring engineers
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong client relationship management capability
  • Experience with project management and proposal preparation
  • Eligibility for Chartered Engineer status through Engineers Australia
  • RPEQ accreditation, or the ability to obtain accreditation within an agreed timeframe

Highly Regarded

Experience with coastal numerical modelling software including:

  • Delft3D
  • SWAN
  • SWASH
  • XBeach

Additional experience with MIKE and/or TUFLOW will be highly regarded.
