Recent advancements in underlying technology have finally made it possible for AI to impact clinical care in a meaningful way. Tempus' proprietary platform connects an entire ecosystem of real-world evidence to deliver real-time, actionable insights to physicians, providing critical information about the right treatments for the right patients, at the right time.
Key Responsibilities
1. Salesforce Administration & Configuration
- Own day-to-day administration of the commercial Salesforce org: user provisioning and deactivation, profiles, permission sets, roles, sharing rules, and license management.
- Configure the declarative layer — objects, fields, record types, page layouts, list views, validation rules, approval processes, and Flow automation — and retire what is no longer used.
- Build and maintain reports and dashboards for field sales, sales leadership, and supporting functions, and keep the underlying report types fit for purpose.
- Manage bulk data operations using Data Loader or equivalent tooling, with a documented backup and rollback step on every load.
- Administer installed packages, integrated applications, and connected systems, and manage seasonal Salesforce releases including impact assessment and regression checks.
- Maintain sandbox strategy and deployment hygiene, moving changes through environments with change sets or the equivalent rather than configuring in production.
2. Data Integrity, Territory Alignment & Governance
- Maintain data cleanliness and consistency across accounts, contacts, and hierarchy — deduplication, ownership, field-level standards — and drive remediation when data drifts.
- Execute territory and account alignment changes in Salesforce as the field org, territories, and portfolio change, and reconcile the result against the system of record.
- Develop and maintain the SOPs, naming conventions, and data-governance standards that keep the org from accumulating configuration debt.
- Manage access and security in line with policy, coordinating with IT and the platform team on identity, permissions, and audit requirements.
3. Requirements, Delivery & Release Management
- Partner with stakeholders across Sales Operations, Customer Support, Pharma Sequencing, and Commercial Strategy to define requirements, separating the underlying problem from the requested feature.
- Determine whether a request is best solved by configuration, process change, or engineering build — and solve it yourself when it is configuration.
- Translate the remainder into clear, testable user stories and acceptance criteria for the Salesforce engineering team, and act as the primary business point of contact through the build.
- Maintain the intake and backlog for commercial Salesforce work so requests are visible, prioritized, and traceable from ask to release.
- Run User Acceptance Testing end to end: build test scripts, coordinate testers, track defects, and hold the release gate until the solution meets business needs.
- Coordinate release readiness — field communications, cutover steps, and rollback plans — so launches do not surprise the field.
4. Enablement, Support & Continuous Improvement
- Serve as first-line support for Salesforce issues from the field and commercial functions, triaging defects from process gaps and resolving or routing each accordingly.
- Develop and deliver training that gets Salesforce users productive on new functionality, tailored to how each team actually works.
- Create and maintain job aids, release notes, and reference documentation users can self-serve from.
- Identify manual and low-value steps in commercial processes and eliminate them through automation or configuration.
- Report on org health, adoption, and request throughput so leadership can see where the systems roadmap is delivering.
- Act as a trusted advisor to commercial stakeholders on what the platform can and cannot do, and set expectations honestly.
Qualifications
- BA/BS in Business, Analytics, Information Systems, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- 4+ years of hands-on Salesforce administration experience, or equivalent experience as a Business Analyst on commercial systems with substantial admin responsibility. Life-science, diagnostics, or healthcare experience preferred.
- Salesforce Administrator certification (ADM-201) required or in progress; Advanced Administrator or Platform App Builder a plus.
- Demonstrated proficiency with declarative configuration: Flow, validation rules, record types, page layouts, permission sets, profiles, and sharing models.
- Experience with Salesforce reports and dashboards, custom report types, and bulk data tools such as Data Loader.
- Working knowledge of sandbox management and deployment practices, including change sets or a comparable release process.
- Experience gathering requirements, writing user stories, and collaborating with technical or offshore engineering teams.
- Familiarity with Salesforce territory management, account hierarchy, and sales alignment concepts; exposure to adjacent platforms such as ServiceNow, Okta, Looker, or Tableau is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy, with the judgment to catch a data or configuration problem before a user does.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interface credibly between technical and non-technical audiences.
- Highly organized and systematic, able to manage multiple concurrent requests and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
