Job Description

The Global Interchange and Pricing team at Visa is responsible for managing interchange and pricing with the objectives of leveraging economics to maximize Visa network participation and therefore drive revenue growth of Visa's network.

The U.S. Interchange Strategy team specifically is responsible for developing and executing interchange strategies that drive network growth, optimize economics across issuers and acquirers, and strengthen Visa's competitive position. Interchange is a core lever of Visa's business, influencing client economics, transaction behavior, and overall network value. The team partners cross-functionally to support strategic client deals, high-priority initiatives, and responses to regulatory and competitive dynamics. As a lean, high-impact group, we work closely with senior leadership to shape key decisions across Visa's U.S. business.

The Analyst, U.S. Interchange Strategy, will support critical workstreams focused on client deal strategy, product initiatives, and interchange economics. This role sits at the center of some of Visa's most consequential commercial decisions — from the design of published interchange rate structures for new products entering the market to the optimization of existing interchange rate programs and the development of custom IRF deal strategies. The position requires the ability to apply strong analytical and critical thinking skills to solve business problems, and quickly arrive at recommendations that drive corporate priorities. Your work will be highly visible to leadership and will drive key insights for management discussions.

Essential Functions:

Interchange Rate Design & Product Pricing

  • Support the annual interchange rate refresh process by identifying optimization opportunities, modeling rate structure adjustments, and evaluating volume and revenue tradeoffs across product categories
  • Contribute to pricing strategy for new and emerging Visa products (e.g., Visa Installment Credential, Visa Subscription Program, credit-to-credit use cases) by modeling interchange economics relative to existing rate structures
  • Analyze the impact of emerging segment pricing decisions and credential-level rate differentiation on overall network economics
  • Develop and maintain reusable analytical tools, templates, and frameworks that improve the team's speed and consistency on recurring deal and pricing analyses

Competitive Intelligence & Market Dynamics

  • Monitor and analyze competitor interchange structures, identifying areas where Visa can strengthen its value proposition or must respond
  • Track regulatory developments and assess potential impacts on U.S. interchange economics, supporting the team's ability to respond quickly with data-driven analysis
  • Develop and maintain benchmarking frameworks to contextualize Visa's rate positioning relative to competitive alternatives

Client Deal Strategy & Economics

  • Build and maintain pro forma financial models to quantify the interchange and volume impact of proposed deal structures, including custom packages and portfolio migration scenarios
  • Support the development of GPIC approval materials, including economic summaries, competitive context, and strategic rationale for deals involving Visa's largest issuing clients
  • Support post-deal execution activities including VPP rate notifications, booking date compliance, and ongoing portfolio performance monitoring

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Issuing Deals, Acceptance, Commercial Solutions, and Product teams to provide interchange expertise on complex client engagements and product launches
  • Support cross-border interchange discussions by providing North America-specific data, precedent analysis, and economic impact assessments for global proposals requiring regional input
  • Serve as a resource for Account Level Management and grace period analyses in support of partnership structures
  • Develop deep expertise in U.S. interchange economics to serve as a knowledgeable resource for internal and external stakeholders
  • Communicate and build support for recommendations among senior leaders across the organization
  • Participate in continuous training and knowledge sharing with other functions in the Interchange & Pricing Strategy team

What Makes This Role Unique

This is not a reporting or back-office analytics role. You will be in the room (or building the materials that shape the room) when Visa makes decisions on multi-billion-dollar client relationships, new product pricing, and competitive responses. The team is small, which means high ownership from day one and direct exposure to senior leadership across Visa's U.S. business.

This role is a Hybrid position to be located in our Foster City, CA office location. Visa requires at least 3 days in office, expectations of these days will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.
