Position Overview

As an Investment Banking Associate within the Healthcare Group, you will play a central role in supporting and executing client engagements while helping manage day-to-day transaction processes.

You will oversee financial analyses, coordinate diligence efforts, manage Analysts, develop client-facing materials and contribute directly to strategic recommendations for clients and prospects. The role requires strong technical capabilities, commercial judgement, project management skills and an interest in the evolving healthcare landscape.

Successful candidates will possess advanced financial modelling expertise, strong attention to detail and the ability to lead multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Transaction Execution

• Lead execution workstreams for mergers and acquisitions, private capital raising transactions and strategic advisory assignments.
• Develop, review and oversee complex financial models, including operating models, merger models, leveraged buyout analyses and valuation models.
• Apply and oversee core valuation methodologies, including comparable company analysis, precedent transactions and discounted cash flow analysis.
• Coordinate financial, operational and commercial due diligence processes.
• Manage interactions with clients, investors, legal advisers and other transaction participants throughout deal execution.
• Evaluate company performance, strategic positioning, growth opportunities and transaction risks.
• Support senior bankers in developing transaction strategies, transaction positioning and client recommendations.
• Review transaction materials and ensure the accuracy and quality of analytical deliverables.

Healthcare Sector Expertise

• Develop deep expertise across healthcare services, life sciences, medical technology, diagnostics, healthcare IT, pharmaceutical services and related sectors.
• Analyse healthcare market trends, regulatory developments, reimbursement dynamics and competitive landscapes.
• Monitor public and private healthcare market activity, financing trends, valuation developments and M&A transactions.
• Evaluate healthcare-specific operating metrics, growth drivers, utilisation trends and profitability indicators.
• Conduct strategic market research to support client coverage initiatives and business development efforts.
• Track emerging healthcare trends and innovations influencing investment and acquisition activity.

Client Relationship Management

• Prepare, review and present client-facing materials, including pitch books, confidential information memoranda, management presentations and board materials.
• Participate in client meetings, management presentations and transaction discussions.
• Serve as a day-to-day contact for clients, investors and transaction counterparties.
• Develop a deep understanding of client objectives, strategic priorities and sector dynamics.
• Provide responsive, thoughtful and high-quality client service throughout the transaction process.
• Support relationship development efforts with private equity sponsors, strategic acquirers and healthcare executives.

Leadership & Team Development

• Manage and mentor Analysts, providing coaching, guidance and constructive feedback.
• Review financial analyses, valuation work and presentation materials prepared by junior team members.
• Support the training and development of incoming Analysts and Summer Interns.
• Assist with recruiting and broader team development initiatives.
• Foster a collaborative, inclusive and high-performance team environment.

Business Development

• Support origination and business development efforts across the Healthcare sector.
• Prepare strategic marketing materials and presentations for prospective clients.
• Identify emerging healthcare themes, industry trends and potential transaction opportunities.
• Analyse market developments, investor activity and strategic priorities across healthcare subsectors.
• Contribute to thought leadership, sector insights and relationship-building initiatives.

Risk Management & Compliance

• Ensure all activities comply with applicable regulations, firm policies and professional standards.
• Maintain the highest standards of professionalism, confidentiality, accuracy and integrity.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree with a strong academic record.
• Previous experience of investment banking, corporate finance, transaction advisory, valuation, consulting or related experience.
• Demonstrated experience supporting or executing M&A, capital raising or strategic advisory transactions.
• Strong understanding of accounting, corporate finance, valuation methodologies and financial statement analysis.
• Advanced financial modelling and analytical capabilities.
• Exceptional written, verbal and presentation skills.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
• Strong project management and organisational abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple workstreams and competing priorities simultaneously.
• Demonstrated leadership potential and commitment to mentoring junior professionals.
• Strong interest in healthcare, healthcare innovation and the businesses shaping the future of the industry.

Preferred

• Prior experience within investment banking or transaction advisory.
• Experience covering healthcare services, healthcare IT, life sciences, medical technology, pharmaceuticals or related sectors.
• Experience interacting directly with clients, management teams, sponsors and senior stakeholders.
• Proven ability to manage Analysts and review complex analytical work products.
• Exposure to sponsor-backed, founder-led or growth-oriented healthcare companies.
