владение полной информацией в области законодательства по вопросу КИП; полное понимание всей технической документации в области КИП; ремонт приборов автоматики и шкафов управления; регулирование и испытание электронных технических устройств и приборов; регулирование и испытание оптико-механических и теплоизмерительных устройств; чтение и монтаж схем приборов; тестирование приборов средней сложности; ремонт и сборка приборов средней сложности; анализ неисправностей определение причин поломок в устройствах; устранение неисправности в приборах автоматики; проведение монтажа простых соединительных схем; проведение монтажа сложных соединительных схем; осуществление полной проверки аппаратуры на работоспособность; применение контрольно-измерительного оборудования; настройка и наладка телемеханики и электромеханики.

Слесарь КИП, КИПиА должен знать: устройство сложных приборов, технологический процесс их использования; электрические схемы устройств; тепловые схемы устройств автоматики; устройство сложных контрольных и измерительных приборов; методы проверки сложных контрольных и измерительных приборов; блок-схемы и принципиальные схемы приборов, правила эксплуатации приборов КИП и автоматики; устройство образцовых устройств; свойства материалов, применяемых в приборостроении; основы расчета зубчатых колес различных профилей зацепления; требования стандарта, инструкций и методик на проверяемые измерительные приборы; основы телемеханики, теплотехники, электротехники, метрологии.
