Basic Function and Responsibility:

The department analyst position is highly responsible, advanced work using an electronic filing system in a court within the Missouri State Court System. Work involves responsibility for court case processing which requires the application of independent judgment, statutes, policies and regulations with minimal supervision. Develop processes, procedures, and present data in formats for effective data analysis and reporting. Analyze data and present outcomes to management to assist with management decisions. Provide training to Civil Records staff to promote operational efficiency and support to administrative matters related to department operations.

Appointing Authority and Supervision Received:

The court administrator is the appointing authority. The Department Analyst receives direct supervision from the department director.

Characteristic and Assigned Duties: (The following duties are representative of the position and do not include all duties which may be performed.)

  • Create and maintain management reports to meet data analysis needs.
  • Design a meaningful system of audits (checks and balances) to ensure data provided from reports is reflected accurately.
  • Monitor and improve the quality and accuracy of data analysis and reporting.
  • Validate and analyze data applying critical thinking and analytical abilities.
  • Troubleshoot technical problems experienced by users in Show-Me-Courts.
  • Develop, implement, and provide ongoing training for Civil Records Department staff.
  • Develop and maintain operational procedures, manuals, and resource materials for use by Civil Records Department staff.
  • Complete special or periodic projects.
  • Perform other duties as required.

  • Knowledge of court procedures, legal documents, laws, and legal factors pertaining to the court.
  • Knowledge of the organization, operation, functions, responsibilities, jurisdiction and/or procedures of the Courts.
  • Knowledge of Records Departments rules, procedures, and functions.
  • Ability to recognize, investigate, and analyze a variety of administrative problems and to devise effective solutions.
  • Ability to organize, direct, and coordinate administrative activities in an effective manner.
  • Ability to communicate ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, judges, court officials, and the general public.
  • Ability to effectively train employees.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to relate in a positive fashion to individuals from a variety of cultural, economic, and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Ability to make sound decisions in accordance with laws, regulations, and Court policies and procedures.
  • Skill in the operation of computers and standard office equipment (Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, etc).

Minimum Qualifications: (Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis, provided a high school diploma or GED has been obtained.)

High school diploma or recognized equivalent; one year of varied administrative experience performing a wide range of technical office duties.
