About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Developer / Technical Lead to lead the design, development and implementation of Python-based applications supporting banking operations, process automation and AML/KYC systems.

You will play a key role in driving technical solutions, leading development activities and ensuring the successful delivery of scalable, secure and high-performance applications within a banking environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead requirement gathering, technical analysis, solution design and implementation of complex banking applications.
  • Drive the development of Python-based full-stack applications and process automation solutions.
  • Design, develop and implement scalable backend services using Python, Django and REST APIs.
  • Lead frontend development using React, JavaScript and CSS/SCSS.
  • Analyse existing systems, identify technical challenges and propose effective solutions.
  • Design and implement system integrations involving MQ, microservices and high-volume batch processing.
  • Oversee database design, SQL development and query optimisation using MS SQL Server and Oracle.
  • Ensure application quality through code reviews, unit testing, integration testing and technical documentation.
  • Drive engineering best practices, including Agile/Scrum, CI/CD, DevOps and Test-Driven Development.
  • Ensure compliance with change management, engineering review and software development standards.
  • Work closely with business stakeholders, architects, project managers and technical teams to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance to the development team.
  • Identify opportunities to improve system performance, scalability, reliability and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or a related discipline.
  • At least 8–10+ years of hands-on software development experience.
  • Strong experience in Python, Django and full-stack application development.
  • Strong frontend development experience with React, JavaScript, CSS and SCSS.
  • Solid experience in designing and developing REST APIs and backend services.
  • Strong database skills in MS SQL Server and Oracle, including database design and SQL query optimisation.
  • Good knowledge of Linux/Unix environments and Shell Scripting.
  • Experience designing and implementing enterprise-level applications with high availability and scalability.
  • Strong experience in system integration, MQ, microservices and high-volume batch processing.
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum, Waterfall, CI/CD, DevOps and Test-Driven Development.
  • Strong understanding of unit testing, object-oriented design, UML and software architecture.
  • Experience with source control, development tools and release/deployment management.
  • Proven experience in technical leadership, solution design and guiding development teams.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication and stakeholder management skills.

Good to Have:

  • Experience in AML/KYC systems, banking applications or financial services technology.
  • Knowledge of transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, regulatory compliance or risk management platforms.
  • Exposure to AML/KYC solutions such as NICE Actimize, SAS AML or Verafin.
  • Experience with RegTech platforms and banking workflow automation.
  • Strong knowledge of CI/CD toolchains, release orchestration and environment management.
