The posting

Anduril Industries is a defense technology company with a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. By bringing the expertise, technology, and business model of the 21st century’s most innovative companies to the defense industry, Anduril is changing how military systems are designed, built and sold. Anduril’s family of systems is powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a realtime, 3D command and control center. As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is committed to bringing cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to the military in months, not years.

Anduril is seeking an experienced Power Controls Engineer to develop and implement advanced control algorithms for high-performance power electronic systems. We're looking for someone with deep expertise in control system modeling and simulation — particularly in Simulink and PLECS — who can take a controls concept from simulation through hardware validation. This individual will own the control architecture for DC/DC converters, inverters, and motor drives built around discrete SiC and GaN power stages, and will work closely with power hardware and firmware engineers to deliver tightly integrated, high-reliability systems for defense and aerospace applications.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Design, simulate, and validate closed-loop control algorithms for switch-mode power converters and inverters using Simulink and/or PLECS.
  • Controls for 3-phase AC systems, with and without a switched Neutral
  • Develop plant models and controller architectures (voltage-mode, current-mode, sensorless FOC, etc.) for multi-kW power stages utilizing discrete SiC and GaN FETs.
  • Perform stability analysis, loop shaping, and compensator design to meet transient response, efficiency, and EMI targets.
  • Collaborate with power hardware engineers on gate drive tuning, dead-time optimization, and switching-loss characterization of wide-bandgap devices.
  • Support model-based code generation workflows and work with firmware engineers to translate control designs into embedded implementations.
  • Define and execute hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and power-hardware-in-the-loop (PHIL) test plans to validate control performance against system requirements.
  • Contribute to trade studies on converter topology, modulation strategy, and control bandwidth as they relate to size, weight, power, and thermal constraints.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience designing and tuning digital control loops for power electronic converters (DC/DC, DC/AC, or motor drives).
  • Proficiency in Simulink and/or PLECS for control system modeling, simulation, and analysis.
  • Strong foundation in control theory — z-domain and s-domain design, bode analysis, state-space methods, and discrete-time implementation considerations.
  • Hands-on experience with discrete SiC and/or GaN FET-based power stages in the multi-kW range.
  • Familiarity with military or aerospace environments and standards such as MIL-STD-461, 464, 810, or DO-160.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MS/PhD with a focus in power electronics controls or control systems.
  • Experience writing embedded firmware (C/C++) for microcontrollers or DSPs used in power converter control (e.g., TI C2000, STM32).
  • Familiarity with auto-code generation from Simulink (Embedded Coder) or similar model-based design toolchains.
  • Experience with real-time HIL platforms (e.g., Typhoon HIL, dSPACE, OPAL-RT).
  • Knowledge of advanced modulation techniques (SVM, DPWM) and their impact on switching losses in wide-bandgap devices.
  • Design-for-Reliability practices including DFMEA.
  • Experience with EMI mitigation strategies at the controls and layout level.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
