The posting

Aalborg University seeks a Data Scientist to help establish Digital Heart, a cardiovascular data and AI research infrastructure developed with Aalborg University Hospital and other hospital partners.

The position is a full-time technical and administrative staff position (TAP), planned for 3.5 years, with a possible extension, based at Aalborg University. The position is available from 1 November 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter.

You will collect and organise clinical data—including echocardiography, cardiac MRI, CT, ECG and electronic patient records—within a secure Trusted Research Environment (TRE). Your work will provide the foundation for cardiovascular research and AI development.

Your responsibilities: Working closely with clinicians, hospital IT teams, researchers and our data manager, you will:

  • Coordinate clinical data extraction and secure transfer from participating hospitals.
  • Develop and maintain workflows for importing, processing and linking imaging, biosignal and patient record data.
  • Establish structured research datasets, databases and metadata documentation.
  • Implement data quality checks and approved procedures for pseudonymisation and secure data handling.
  • Deploy existing analysis and AI tools and support researchers in using the platform.

Your qualifications: You hold a relevant master’s degree in data science, computer science, biomedical engineering, health informatics or a related field, or have equivalent experience.

We are looking for:

  • Strong Python and SQL skills and experience developing reliable data pipelines.
  • Experience integrating complex datasets, preferably from clinical or hospital systems.
  • A systematic approach to data quality, documentation and sensitive data.
  • The ability to work independently and collaborate with clinical and technical colleagues.

Experience with DICOM/PACS, electronic patient records, secure research environments or container technologies is an advantage.

What we offer: You will join an interdisciplinary cardiovascular research environment and have substantial influence on the development of Digital Heart’s data infrastructure.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
