About Us

Abacus Insights is transforming how data and AI work for health plans. Our mission is simple: make healthcare data usable, so the people responsible for care and cost decisions can act faster, with confidence.

As the AI and Data Platform for Payer Intelligence, we help health plans break down data silos to create a single, trusted data foundation. That foundation powers better decisions—so plans can improve outcomes, reduce waste, and deliver better experiences for members and providers alike. Backed by $100M from top investors, we're tackling big challenges in an industry that's ready for change. Our platform enables GenAI use cases by delivering clean, connected, and reliable healthcare data to support automation, prioritization, and decision workflows—and it's why we are leading the way.

Our innovation begins with people. We are bold, curious, and collaborative—because the best ideas come from working together. We embrace the thoughtful use of AI and automation to drive innovation and efficiency, and we look for individuals who are curious and adaptable—those excited to leverage emerging technologies to enhance how we work—while keeping human insight, connection, and our clients at the center of every decision.

Ready to make an impact? Join us and let's build the future together.

About the Role

We are seeking a Head of Technical Product Management to own the technical product strategy, roadmap, and delivery of our Data Cloud and AI platform, working hand in hand with our engineering teams. As the leader accountable for the technical product direction of the platform that health plans rely on to unify, govern, and activate their data, you will sit at the intersection of product strategy, cloud architecture, data engineering, and applied AI—and you will turn that intersection into durable competitive advantage. This role reports to the CTO and leads the technical product management function for the platform, working hand in hand with engineering to deliver.

You will build, lead, and scale a mature technical product management organization within Engineering, made up of Directors and Technical Product Managers (TPMs) responsible for scalable data lakes, real-time data pipelines, data products, and Generative AI/ML systems, all built to meet rigorous healthcare compliance standards (HIPAA, HITRUST). As a senior leader in the Engineering organization, you will partner with the CTO, CEO, and executive peers across Engineering, Client Success, Legal, Security, and Finance to shape technical direction and investment priorities, and ensure the platform delivers measurable outcomes for enterprise payer customers.

Your day to day

  • Define and evangelize the multi-year technical product strategy and roadmap for Abacus's cloud-native data platform and AI/ML infrastructure, and align it with company strategy and customer needs, in partnership with the CTO and executive team
  • Own the end-to-end technical product portfolio spanning data ingestion (FHIR, HL7, claims, EHR), Lakehouse architecture (Databricks), and AI/ML tooling and infrastructure, working with Engineering leadership to make clear investment, sequencing, and build-versus-buy-versus-partner decisions
  • Own platform outcomes, including adoption, reliability, performance, and unit economics (including cloud cost and FinOps), and partner with Finance and Sales leadership to connect technical investment to revenue and margin
  • Establish and report on executive-level KPIs, including platform and application adoption, DORA metrics, data product SLAs, FinOps, and ROI, and use them to justify and steer ongoing investment
  • Set the technical direction in partnership with Engineering leadership on cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure/GCP), distributed systems, APIs, and the harnesses/infrastructure that power our AI systems, and make and communicate the critical architectural trade-offs
  • Establish enterprise standards for data quality, , AI governance, HITRUST/HIPAA compliance, authentication/authorization and federation, and observability across massive healthcare datasets
  • Champion Responsible AI across the company, including AI Gateways, evaluations, traces/observability, drift detection, bias mitigation, FinOps, and clinical validation, in partnership with AI, Legal, Security, and clinical/payer subject matter experts
  • Drive an Agentic Driven Development operating model in which product intent, prioritization, and evaluation criteria are expressed so that engineering teams and AI development harnesses can execute with speed and quality
  • Lead complex, cross-functional initiatives from conception to production, aligning Engineering, Data and AI Engineering, SWAT/SRE, Legal, Security, and Client Success, building consensus across executive leadership and clients, and proactively managing dependencies, risk, and technical debt, with a strong partnership with Engineering leadership
  • Serve as the technical voice with enterprise health plan customers and strategic technology partners (such as Databricks and the major cloud providers), translating complex data and AI architectures into clear narratives for executives and customers
  • Partner with Sales, Marketing, and Client Success leadership on technical input to go-to-market, pricing and packaging, analyst and customer briefings, and the delivery of new data products and AI capabilities
  • Lead, coach, and develop a growing organization of Directors and TPMs, building a culture of high ownership, agility, and technical excellence, and own talent strategy, succession, and organizational design for the function, including the TPM hiring bar, leveling and career ladders, planning and review mechanisms, and the operating rhythm of a mature TPM organization

What you bring to the team

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field
  • 15+ years of technical product management experience, including 6+ years leading platform, cloud, SaaS, or Data/AI infrastructure products at scale
  • 8+ years of people leadership, including experience leading managers and building high-performing technical product management organizations
  • Experience working hand in hand with product engineering teams that ship platform software, with a focus on delivery quality and velocity (for example, DORA metrics)
  • Experience building or scaling a technical product management (TPM) function inside an Engineering organization, including hiring, leveling, operating model, and career framework, with familiarity with mature TPM practices at leading cloud and data companies
  • Demonstrated executive presence, with a track record of influencing senior and executive leaders and owning a technical product portfolio's strategy and outcomes
  • Strong working knowledge of modern cloud data stacks (Databricks, Snowflake) and data engineering best practices
  • Experience delivering ML and/or Generative AI solutions, with familiarity with Agentic Driven Development practices and AI evaluation and governance frameworks
  • Working knowledge of healthcare data standards and taxonomies (FHIR, HL7, ICD-10, claims data) and regulatory environments (HIPAA, HITRUST)
  • Proven ability to make sound architectural and investment trade-offs and to articulate them to both engineers and executives
  • Exceptional storytelling, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to align diverse stakeholders around a shared strategy

  • Hands-on coding proficiency in Python and/or SQL
  • Direct experience commercializing enterprise software within major health insurance payers or providers

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
