The posting

ABSC is seeking a TS/SCI-cleared DevOps Engineer – Platform Deployment & Support to support the NGA Data Modernization Services (DMS) program.

Working alongside our sister company, Syntasa, and our Intelligence Community customer, the DevOps Engineer will help deploy, configure, sustain, and troubleshoot enterprise data and analytics capabilities within classified high-side and on-premises environments.

This role combines DevOps engineering, platform installation, infrastructure automation, technical troubleshooting, service-desk support, and direct customer engagement. The selected candidate will work with experienced DevOps engineers, product engineers, software developers, data engineers, cybersecurity professionals, and Government stakeholders to deploy reliable platform capabilities and resolve customer issues.

The position requires regular on-site support in classified environments.

Work location: This position is on-site Herndon or Springfield, VA; St. Louis, MO; or Aurora, CO.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with installing, configuring, validating, upgrading, patching, and sustaining the Syntasa platform and related technologies within classified high-side and on-premises environments.
  • Support software and platform deployments within restricted, disconnected, and air-gapped environments.
  • Follow approved procedures for introducing software, dependencies, updates, and deployment artifacts into classified environments.
  • Validate platform configurations, infrastructure dependencies, integrations, data connections, security settings, and operational readiness following installations and upgrades.
  • Coordinate deployment and troubleshooting activities with ABSC, Syntasa engineers, Government developers, infrastructure teams, cybersecurity personnel, and mission stakeholders.
  • Provide customer-facing technical support for platform incidents, service requests, access issues, deployment problems, and application questions.
  • Support investigation and resolution of complex technical tickets under the guidance of senior engineers and product specialists.
  • Triage assigned tickets, gather relevant technical information, reproduce reported issues, analyze logs, document troubleshooting actions, and coordinate escalation when required.
  • Track assigned incidents and service requests through resolution, customer validation, documentation, and closure.
  • Maintain accurate and timely ticket updates, including technical findings, actions taken, operational impact, current status, workarounds, and final resolution.
  • Communicate technical issues, ticket status, planned maintenance, and resolution activities clearly to Government customers and program leadership.
  • Troubleshoot issues involving Linux, containers, Kubernetes, databases, APIs, authentication, certificates, storage, networking, and application configuration.
  • Escalate suspected product defects to senior engineers or Syntasa product-development teams and assist with testing and validating corrective releases.
  • Implement and maintain cloud and on-premises infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code and configuration-management tools.
  • Assist with deploying applications and platform components within AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or comparable cloud environments.
  • Develop and maintain scripts and automation using Python, Go, Java, Bash, or similar languages.
  • Support CI/CD pipelines used to build, test, secure, and deploy applications and infrastructure.
  • Build and support containerized applications using Docker and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes or OpenShift.
  • Assist with configuring and troubleshooting cloud networking components, including virtual private clouds, subnets, routing, security groups, gateways, load balancers, and VPN connections.
  • Support cloud security capabilities involving identity and access management, authentication, authorization, encryption, logging, and monitoring.
  • Monitor platform and infrastructure health, application performance, resource utilization, and service availability.
  • Assist with troubleshooting data pipelines, platform integrations, deployment failures, connectivity problems, and performance issues.
  • Support data platforms and services such as Databricks, Apache Spark, Amazon EMR, Athena, Glue, Redshift, Google BigQuery, Dataflow, and Dataproc.
  • Participate in functional, integration, regression, and operational testing following installations, upgrades, configuration changes, and corrective actions.
  • Support customer onboarding, technical demonstrations, user assistance, and knowledge-transfer activities.
  • Develop and maintain installation guides, configuration documentation, troubleshooting procedures, knowledge articles, operational runbooks, and customer-facing support materials.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, technical planning sessions, code reviews, deployment activities, and troubleshooting meetings.
  • Support incident, problem, change, release, and configuration-management processes.
  • Share technical knowledge with other team members to improve support coverage and reduce operational dependencies.
  • Support occasional after-hours deployments, maintenance activities, or mission-impacting incidents when required.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI with the ability and willingness to obtain and maintain a counterintelligence polygraph.
  • Experience installing, configuring, deploying, or troubleshooting software, applications, or platform capabilities.

  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks and collaborate effectively within a technical team.
  • Ability to work on-site in classified customer environments as required.
  • Interest in continuing to develop cloud, automation, platform-engineering, cybersecurity, and DevOps expertise.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
