The posting

Celebrating 85 Years of Building With Purpose

At Absher Construction, we’re proud to celebrate over 85 years as one of the Pacific Northwest’s most respected general contractors. As a 100% employee-owned company, we believe our people are our greatest asset and we invest in them like it! From fully paid medical premiums for employees, to a generous PTO policy, 401(k) and ESOP retirement benefits, we offer a total rewards package that reflects the pride and ownership we bring to every project.

As a Senior Project Engineer, you’ll play a key leadership role in supporting field and office operations by partnering closely with the Project Manager and Superintendent. You’ll take ownership of complex scopes, lead technical coordination, and help guide Project Engineers and interns. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving problems, mentoring others, and taking pride in delivering high-quality work.

You’ll be involved in every phase of the project, from start-up through closeout, with increasing responsibility for systems coordination, cost management, and technical execution.

What You’ll Do

  • Coordinate and lead technical and administrative project functions from start-up through closeout
  • Manage complex building systems coordination, including submittals, RFIs, clash detection, and design reviews
  • Support bid package development, schedule management, change management, and cost reporting
  • Oversee subcontractor compliance, documentation, and quality control processes
  • Partner with Project Managers and Superintendents on project planning and execution
  • Maintain strong communication with owners, design teams, and trade partners
  • Lead jobsite engineering activities and participate in project meetings
  • Track budgets, costs, and forecasting to support financial performance
  • Coach, mentor, and support Project Engineers and interns
  • Promote and model strong safety practices and support Absher’s safety culture
  • Ensure project documentation and closeout materials are accurate and complete

Why You’ll Be Successful

You bring strong technical knowledge, sound judgment, and a calm, steady approach to problem-solving. You take ownership of your work, communicate clearly, and enjoy helping others grow. You balance attention to detail with the ability to see the bigger picture, and you take pride in doing things the right way.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 4+ years of relevant construction experience
  • Strong understanding of construction means and methods
  • Proficiency with project management and construction software platforms
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and submittals
  • Experience coordinating complex building systems
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and support junior staff
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organization, time management, and follow-through
  • Dependable, professional, and comfortable handling confidential information

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

The role requires regular movement throughout the site, use of standard PPE, and the ability to work in varying weather and site conditions. Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds is required, with heavier lifting supported as needed.

For positions with access to company financial accounts or credit card programs, a credit history check may also be conducted.

All screening is conducted in compliance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and applicable state and local laws. Candidates will be asked to provide written consent prior to any screening. If results include information that may affect a hiring decision, candidates will have the opportunity to review and respond to the findings before a final decision is made.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
