Introduction to Role & Team

At Bumble, our mission is to create a world where all relationships are healthy and equitable. That starts with trust — and trust begins with how we protect people’s data. As part of our Privacy Legal team, you’ll help safeguard the experiences of millions of people by embedding thoughtful, responsible data practices into everything we build.

This role sits at the intersection of law, product, and operations, translating privacy requirements into practical, scalable solutions that empower teams across Bumble. You’ll contribute to a global privacy program that supports innovation while upholding our responsibility to members and communities.

You’ll work closely with Product, Engineering, InfoSec, and Member Support to operationalize privacy-by-design and respond to evolving regulatory expectations. Along the way, you’ll role model Bumble values such as Respect and Curiosity — approaching complex challenges with care, accountability, and a drive to continuously improve how we work, including through the thoughtful use of AI.

What You’ll Do

  • Coordinate and support responses to personal data incidents, Independently leading low–medium risk incident responses end-to-end with minimal oversight and contributing to more complex investigations through structured triage, documentation, and draft materials
  • Maintain accurate incident records and logs, ensuring clear documentation and follow-through across post-incident actions
  • Contribute to the delivery and continuous improvement of incident response playbooks, templates, and workflows, helping teams understand their roles and obligations
  • Support the execution of Bumble’s global privacy compliance programme, including GDPR, UK data protection law, and US privacy frameworks, translating requirements into operational practices
  • Owning privacy frameworks (e.g. DPIA/ROPA standards) and driving cross-functional adoption
  • Assist in maintaining and improving core GDPR artifacts such as Records of Processing Activities (ROPA), Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), and Legitimate Interest Assessments (LIAs), including quality reviews and coordination with business teams
  • Acting as a go-to subject matter contributor for operational privacy processes and improvements
  • Partner cross-functionally to support privacy-by-design efforts, including data flow mapping, documenting safeguards, and identifying risks for escalation
  • Support preparation of draft responses to regulatory inquiries and data subject requests, coordinating inputs and tracking deadlines across stakeholders
  • Use AI tools responsibly to support research, first-draft documentation, and process optimisation, applying human judgment to ensure accuracy, fairness, and compliance

About You

  • Qualified attorney admitted to the bar and licensed in Texas.
  • Experience in privacy, data protection, or compliance roles, ideally in a technology or consumer-focused environment
  • Strong working knowledge of GDPR, UK GDPR, and US privacy laws, with curiosity for emerging global frameworks
  • Hands-on experience supporting operational privacy activities such as incident response, DPIAs, LIAs, vendor assessments, or data mapping
  • Ability to translate complex privacy concepts into clear, practical guidance, while knowing when to escalate to legal counsel
  • Strong drafting and communication skills, with attention to detail across policies, playbooks, and stakeholder materials
  • Comfortable collaborating across Product, Engineering, InfoSec, Marketing, Member Support, and People teams to deliver outcomes
  • Demonstrates ownership, follows work through from insight to impact, and adapts with an agile mindset in a fast-moving environment
  • Experience using AI tools to enhance research, drafting, and workflow efficiency, with a responsible and inclusive approach to data and outputs

Typically requires 2-4+ years of experience, though we welcome candidates with alternative backgrounds that demonstrate equivalent skills.

AI in Bumble Inc. Hiring

At Bumble, we may use AI tools to support parts of our recruitment process — such as helping us record, transcribe, and summarize conversations, and supporting job alignment by comparing resumes and job descriptions to highlight skills and potential roles that may be a good match. These tools help us work more efficiently and stay focused on you during our conversations. Importantly, all hiring decisions are made by people. AI is used only to support our team’s efficiency and improve the candidate experience — not to evaluate or decide on your candidacy. Participation in AI-supported interviews and conversations is completely voluntary and will not impact your candidacy. If you’d prefer to opt out, simply let your recruiter or interviewer know at the start of a call, or anytime during the interview or conversation. Summaries and related data are retained only as long as needed in line with our internal data retention policies. If at any point you’d like a transcription or summary deleted, please contact your recruiter directly.

Fraudulent Candidate Detection

Our applicant tracking system analyzes signals relating to device, IP, email, and phone data associated with each application to protect applicants and our hiring process from fraudulent applications. These signals provide indicators for internal review only and do not constitute a definitive determination of identity or intent. Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
