About ACCEL Schools

ACCEL Schools is a growing network of 90 charter schools employing a diverse staff of passionate professionals who value research-based practices and desire to grow professionally. Due to our expanding Career Tech Education (CTE) and central state reporting programs across our schools, we are seeking a dedicated Education Management Information Systems (EMIS) / CTE Specialist to join our remote state reporting team.

This role ensures compliant data extraction, file preparation, and submission to the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce (ODEW). The specialist actively troubleshoots Level 1 and Level 2 errors, coordinates with school-level end-users, manages state compliance programs, and maintains critical staff data systems. This position is Remote and Ohio Residence is Required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Submissions & Validation: Extract district data from various source systems, prepare files, and upload them into the Data Collector for compliant EMIS processing and timely submission to ODEW under strict state deadlines.
  • CTE Course Mapping & Data Entry: Record CTE classes for each school onto Smartsheet, determine necessary course mapping, and adjust course sections within the state reporting area as required.
  • Special Student Populations: Enter, update, and manage student data related to special education, Limited English Proficiency (LEP), and gifted programs within the Student Information System (SIS).
  • Error Resolution & Systems Audit: Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve Level 1 and Level 2 submission errors. Work within the Ohio District Data Exchange (ODDEX) to resolve flags and errors.
  • Federal & State Reporting Programs: Complete Civil Rights Data Collection (CRDC) reporting and Federal Low Income Count System (FLICS) reporting.
  • School & Team Collaboration: Communicate submission errors and systemic problems directly to the CTE Department and school end-users, guiding and assisting local staff to correct data at the source.
  • Records & Documentation: Maintain history records for Effective Date Records (including the Disadvantagement field), organize Level 2 Reports to SharePoint, and author clear, user-friendly EMIS documentation for district end-users.
  • Staff Data Maintenance: Maintain and update staff data for compliance reporting within the Uniform School Payroll System (USPS).
  • Continuous Compliance: Maintain deep, up-to-date knowledge of Ohio state reporting requirements by attending ODEW professional development sessions and participating in all monthly EMIS team meetings.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Residency: Must be a current resident of the State of Ohio.
  • Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of prior EMIS data reporting experience required.

  • Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in data entry and MS Office (specifically Excel and Word). Demonstrated competency with education software and tools (e.g., PowerSchool, Salesforce, USPS, Data Collector, Cross Check, Smartsheet, and SharePoint). Experience using help desk ticketing systems is preferred.
  • Professional Skills: Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating effectively with a team; strong prioritization skills to execute tasks under pressure and meet rigid state deadlines.
  • Communication: High-quality written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to manage and protect confidential student and employee information.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
