The Assembly Supervisor is responsible for managing employees who perform the mechanical assembly of metallic aerospace components. The Supervisor is responsible for staffing, scheduling, and overall department operations. Supervisors are held accountable for safety and compliance, quality, production metrics, and continuous improvement for the assigned department(s). Adheres to safety guidelines and procedures and holds team accountable to the same; proactively identifies job hazards and collaborates with EHS Manager, maintenance personnel, and others to minimize hazards and ensure employee safety Communicates professionally and appropriately to convey instructions, demonstrate procedures, and manage employee performance and behavior Sets an example for integrity, communication, and compliance for others in the organization by following policies, communicating professionally, and providing timely responses to internal customers Complies with manufacturing processes, quality standards & procedures, and leader instructions consistently and accepts responsibility for his/her actions and work product; conveys clear directions to employees and holds team accountable for actions and work product Trains new employees and mentors skill development during the introductory period for new hires; ensures initial training and periodic re-training for team members is completed as expected Attends production meetings and collaborates with internal stakeholders regarding production scheduling and quality issues Records information in the ERP system and updates other metrics as required; communicates regularly via phone, email, and in-person with employees across all levels Verifies equipment is operating correctly and safely; performs basic troubleshooting and may perform maintenance or submit work orders as appropriate Maintains a clean, organized, safe work area Utilizes tape measure, mics, calipers, and other gauges to interpret part measurements and visually assess and inspect parts accurately Drives motor vehicle as required Interviews applicants and selects qualified personnel for available roles on the team; complies with regulations and internal processes for recruiting, selection, and recordkeeping Regular attendance on-site at the workplace is required
This role is identified as requiring ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) compliance; therefore, qualified candidates must meet the definition of a U.S. Person (per EAR Part 772 and ITAR 120.15):
An individual who is granted U.S. citizenship, or An individual who is granted U.S. permanent residence (i.e., a "Green Card" holder), or An individual who is granted status as a "protected person"
Required Education and Work Experience
A high school diploma or GED Vocational training in a hands-on manufacturing career or similar field is preferred A minimum of five (5) years of experience in similar mechanical assembly in aerospace manufacturing Experience with tools such as height gauges, drills, rivet guns, and other hand tools Supervisory experience is preferred
Other Required Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of quality standards; AS9100 preferred Ability to read and understand customer prints, drawings, and specifications Ability to accurately use mics, calipers, gauges, and other measurement instruments Professional verbal and written communication (English) Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel; Teams and SharePoint knowledge is beneficial
Physical Demands and Work Environment To perform the essential functions of the role, employees must be able to perform the following activities with or without reasonable accommodations:
Regularly stand and walk throughout the facility, and stand for long periods to perform job duties Regularly lift, carry (short distances), and push/pull up to 50 pounds Occasionally climb steps, stairs, or ladders Occasionally bend, crawl, stoop, squat, or kneel Accurately distinguish colors to respond to sensors, indicators, and color-variable dashboards Visual acuity to interpret readings on gauges and other measuring devices Use hands and fingers to operate hand tools, fit parts together, and manually inspect and assess parts Use hands and fingers to precisely fit small parts together and to install and tighten fasteners, sometimes within confined and difficult-to-reach component constraints
Working Conditions Work is performed in a manufacturing shop environment where working conditions may vary significantly; the employee will be exposed to:
Excessive noise (hearing protection required) Dust, smoke, fumes/vapors (occasionally) Extreme temperatures (occasionally) Hazardous equipment, including forklifts, hand tools, cranes or other lifting devices, and other equipment used in a machine shop environment
The use of PPE, including hearing protection, eye and hand protection, and safety footwear is required
