Packing & Shipping Specialists are responsible for carefully wrapping and packaging outgoing products to prevent damage to the manufactured product during storage and transportation. Specialists are responsible for selecting appropriate packaging materials to protect product integrity and for optimizing the size and weight of the shipped item(s) in consideration of the transportation method, applicable export regulations, and customer and carrier requirements. Packages products to protect from damage during transportation and storage; examines shipments to ensure they meet customer requirements and comply with carrier requirements, export regulations and customs documentation & compliance. Ensures shipping documents are accurate and complete, and that all packages are adequately labeled. Verifies accuracy of orders and maintains accurate records of shipments; compares identifying information and counts, weighs, and measures items to verify against bills of lading, customer orders, or other records May receive, unwrap, inspect, and store incoming materials; responsible for accurately recording counts, weights, condition, and storage locations for received items Utilizes forklift, pallet jacks, dolly, and other material handling equipment to transport materials; may operate overhead or jib crane; may use forklift to load and/or unload goods on trucks (Forklift certification upon employment is required) Completes appropriate paperwork in compliance with internal processes and quality procedures Maintains a clean and organized, safe work area Verifies equipment is operating correctly and safely; perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance as appropriate Follows directions consistently and accepts responsibility for his/her actions and work product Complies with applicable manufacturing processes, work procedures, and supervisor instructions Adheres to safety guidelines and procedures; proactively identifies job hazards and collaborates with leadership to minimize hazards and ensure employee safety May be required to drive company vehicles for receiving and/or delivering parts; expected to obey all city, state, and federal traffic and transport regulations Performs other duties as assigned Regular attendance on-site at the work site is required
Required Education and Work Experience
High School diploma or GED equivalent is required Minimum of 6 months experience in a warehouse role performing stocking, order picking, and/or packaging is required Forklift experience with satisfactory record of safe operation is preferred Experience with export compliance and hazardous materials shipping is preferred
Other Required Skills and Abilities
Ability to read and accurately interpret a pick ticket and verify counts with 100% accuracy Attention to detail and demonstration of accurate counting, measurement, and associated recordkeeping Ability to accurately read and record measurements within a 1/4 inch increment Professional written and verbal communication skills (English) Consistently legible handwriting (English)

Working ConditionsWork is performed in a manufacturing warehouse environment where working conditions may vary significantly; the employee may be exposed to:
Moderate noise (generally) Excessive noise, hearing protection required (occasionally) Dust, smoke, fumes/vapors (occasionally) Extreme temperatures (occasionally) Sharp instruments including box cutters, scissors, and other tools used in packaging/shipping Hazardous equipment including forklifts, hand tools, cranes or other lifting devices, and other equipment used in a machine shop environment The use of PPE, including hearing protection, eye and hand protection, and use of safety footwear may be required
