About Advantage Design Group

Advantage Design Group is a creative and technology company and the largest producer of online orientation programs in North America. Our platform, which powers Advantage Orientation and HR Engage, has more than 400 deployments across higher education and the private sector in three countries. It turns enrollment and hiring into digital orientation experiences for new students and employees, with interactive video and content built around each client's brand. Our team of about 50, based in Jacksonville, Florida, creates every part of that experience, including content development, branded interface design, video production and software engineering.

About the Opportunity

We are looking for an early-career developer who wants to write real production code and grow with a team that will invest in them. As a Software Developer I, you will spend most of your time writing, testing and maintaining C# and .NET code for the platform behind Advantage Orientation and HR Engage, working alongside senior engineers who review your work and help you sharpen your skills.

This role is the first step on our Web Developer career path. As you build experience, you will take on larger pieces of work and more ownership, with a defined path to .NET Developer, Senior .NET Developer and, for those who want to lead, Developer Team Lead. We support that growth with internal training, mentorship, and company-funded learning.

Why Jacksonville?

Grow your career at Advantage and make coastal Northeast Florida home. Jacksonville offers 22 miles of beaches, the nation's largest urban park system, the St. Johns River and a creative food and arts scene. Florida also has no personal state income tax, which means more of your paycheck stays with you.

What You Do

  • Write, test and maintain production code in C# and .NET, with guidance and code review from senior engineers.
  • Build and update features across SQL Server, front-end pages and ADG’s content platform.
  • Take part in code reviews, learning from feedback on your own work and offering thoughtful feedback to teammates.
  • Join system design discussions and learn the reasoning behind the team’s architecture decisions.
  • Troubleshoot and fix issues, and document what you learn so the whole team benefits.
  • Work with designers, video producers, and project managers to bring client experiences to life.
  • Participate in internal training, team projects, and peer mentorship to grow your skills.

Required Experience

  • Up to two years of professional software development experience. Internships, co-ops, coursework, and substantial personal projects count.
  • Working knowledge of C# and object-oriented programming.
  • Basic understanding of .NET and ASP.NET (MVC or Core).
  • Familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and SQL.
  • Experience using Git or another version control system.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field preferred. In lieu of a degree, candidates with equivalent experience gained through prior work, internships, a coding program or substantial project work, demonstrating a working knowledge of C# and .NET development, will be considered.

How You Work

You will be learning a lot in this role, and how you approach that matters to us. We’re looking for someone who can:

  • Ask questions early, take feedback well, and put it to work in the next thing you build.
  • Own your tasks and keep them moving without frequent check-ins and speak up when you’re stuck.
  • Explain what you built and why in plain language, to engineers and to colleagues outside engineering.
  • Test your own work, pay attention to detail, and keep the people using the platform in mind.

Preferred Experience

  • Internship, co-op or professional experience on a .NET development team.
  • Exposure to RESTful APIs, Razor, or a content management system such as Umbraco.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure, Azure DevOps or CI/CD pipelines.
  • Awareness of web accessibility (WCAG) and secure coding practices.
  • A portfolio, GitHub profile or project you can walk us through.

Compensation and Benefits

The base salary is $65,000–$80,000, depending on experience. Benefits include a 401(k) match, profit sharing, health, dental and vision coverage, paid vacation, flex time, gym membership, and company-funded training. You will also have mentorship from senior engineers and a defined career path with clear expectations at each step.

Work Location

This full-time role is based in Jacksonville, Florida, and begins onsite so you can work closely with the team while learning about our platform and clients. Once you're established in the role, the schedule moves to hybrid, with two remote days per week.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
