Job Summary

The Customer Service Project Engineer serves as a strategic liaison between customers and internal business functions to support complex customer opportunities, infrastructure planning, regulatory compliance, revenue growth initiatives, and customer-focused operational solutions. The role coordinates across Customer Service, Distribution, Transmission, Generation, Regulatory, Engineering, Economic Development, and other business units to support informed decision-making, organizational alignment, and successful project execution. Depending on organizational alignment, the position will emphasize one of two primary areas. One alignment centers on customer opportunities and infrastructure planning, including generation strategy support, opportunity portfolio management, transmission coordination, and cross-functional planning for large or complex customer projects. The other alignment centers on customer solutions, revenue strategy, and engineering support, including contract governance, contribution-in-aid-of-construction and revenue justification analysis, distribution engineering consultation, and emerging technology solutions.

Under either alignment, Opportunity Account Manager duties and Retail & Tariff Resources duties are core functions of the position. This role helps customers and internal stakeholders evaluate service options, navigate utility processes, understand tariff and rate considerations, and deliver solutions that balance customer needs with operational, engineering, financial, and regulatory requirements. In addition, it leads or supports the development and coordination of customer agreements, contract frameworks, and governance activities, to include contract negotiations and execution.

Job Description

What You’ll Do:

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for customer opportunities, strategic customer initiatives, and complex service needs.
  • Perform Opportunity Account Manager responsibilities by coordinating customer opportunities from initial evaluation through planning, execution, and ongoing relationship support.
  • Provide Retail & Tariff Resources support, including guidance on retail tariffs, rate structures, service requirements, and potential billing impacts.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to evaluate, prioritize, and implement customer-focused solutions.
  • Support complex customer projects requiring coordination among operational, engineering, regulatory, financial, and commercial stakeholders.
  • Evaluate customer requests and facilitate alignment between customer needs and company capabilities, standards, and strategic priorities.
  • Develop analyses, business cases, project recommendations, and presentations to support decisions by customers, internal stakeholders, and leadership.
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks or barriers, and facilitate issue resolution to support timely and successful outcomes.
  • Support economic development activity and large-customer growth opportunities through coordinated project management and technical consultation.
  • Build effective working relationships with customers and internal partners and communicate complex technical, financial, and regulatory information clearly.

Alignment A - Customer Opportunity & Infrastructure Planning

  • Lead or support the development and coordination of customer agreements, contract frameworks, and governance activities, to include contract negotiations and execution
  • Support generation strategy and planning by connecting anticipated customer growth and load opportunities with generation and resource planning activities.
  • Manage and monitor customer opportunity portfolios, including pipeline status, prioritization, timing, conversion, dependencies, and risk.
  • Serve as a liaison with transmission organizations and internal transmission stakeholders for customer-related planning and project needs.
  • Coordinate interconnection, infrastructure, and behind-the-meter project discussions and evaluations.
  • Facilitate communication across business units to assess feasibility, establish readiness, clarify handoffs, and support project execution.
  • Identify and advance process improvements that strengthen customer project planning, coordination, and delivery.

Alignment B - Customer Solutions, Revenue Strategy & Engineering Support

  • Lead or support the development and coordination of customer agreements, contract frameworks, and governance activities, to include contract negotiations and execution
  • Support contribution-in-aid-of-construction determinations, application review, and revenue justification analyses.
  • Perform financial and business evaluations related to customer investments, non-standard service arrangements, and growth opportunities.
  • Provide technical consultation for distribution engineering projects, emerging technologies, and customer energy solutions.
  • Support demand-side management, distributed energy resource initiatives, and customer-facing pilot programs.
  • Partner with operations, engineering, finance, and regulatory teams to align customer solutions with company standards, tariffs, and strategic objectives.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
