The Expert, Strategy & Business Operations is a key member of the Global Operations Strategy & Portfolio team. The role helps shape and execute Global Operations strategy by translating complex priorities into clear choices, coordinated plans and measurable outcomes. Operating at the intersection of strategy, finance, program leadership, analytics and executive decision support, this individual partners across Global Operations and enterprise functions to accelerate high-priority work and strengthen leadership decision-making.

This is not a traditional PMO role. The successful candidate combines the structured thinking of a strategist, the execution discipline of an experienced program leader, the financial acumen of a business operator and the curiosity to use modern data and AI tools to improve the speed and quality of work. The role requires a high degree of independence, comfort with ambiguity and the ability to build trust and influence outcomes in a global, matrixed organization.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy Development & Translation:

  • Support development and evolution of the Global Operations multi-year strategy, connecting enterprise priorities with operational capabilities, investments and execution.
  • Structure ambiguous strategic questions, synthesize internal and external inputs, develop hypotheses and options, and translate analysis into clear recommendations.
  • Translate strategic priorities into actionable roadmaps, initiatives, milestones, KPIs and decision points.
  • Support annual, quarterly and long-range planning processes, maintaining alignment as business conditions, assumptions and priorities change.
  • Develop executive-ready strategy narratives, recommendations and decision materials.

Strategic Program & Portfolio Leadership Support:

  • Lead complex, cross-functional strategic initiatives from problem definition through implementation and benefits realization.
  • Establish fit-for-purpose governance, workplans, decision frameworks, milestones, ownership and operating rhythms.
  • Anticipate dependencies, risks, resource constraints and stakeholder issues, and proactively drive them toward resolution.
  • Create transparency across the portfolio and enable informed prioritization, sequencing and resource-allocation decisions.
  • Maintain momentum and accountability without adding unnecessary process or reporting burden.

Financial & Business Analysis:

  • Partner with Finance and functional leaders to translate operational decisions into financial implications and business outcomes.
  • Build and challenge business cases, investment analyses, scenarios and cost-benefit assessments.
  • Connect strategic initiatives to growth, margin, cost, productivity, working capital, capacity, headcount and investment requirements.
  • Analyze actual and forecast performance to identify emerging gaps, risks, opportunities and trade-offs.
  • Distill complex financial and operational information into concise leadership insights and recommendations.

Data, Analytics & AI Enablement:

  • Use data and analytics to frame problems, test hypotheses, evaluate alternatives and strengthen strategic recommendations.
  • Apply advanced Excel and executive-level PowerPoint skills; use visualization and analytics tools such as Power BI to communicate insights clearly.
  • Use generative AI and modern productivity tools to accelerate research, analysis, synthesis, scenario development, communication and program execution.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify or automate recurring strategic and operational processes through AI, analytics and digital workflows.
  • Partner effectively with data, analytics, Finance and IT specialists while independently performing the business analysis required to move decisions forward.

Executive & Stakeholder Leadership:

  • Build trusted relationships across Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, MSAT, Finance, HR, IT, Commercial and other enterprise functions.
  • Navigate a highly matrixed global organization and influence outcomes without relying on formal authority.
  • Facilitate leadership discussions where priorities, ownership, trade-offs or decisions are unclear.
  • Adapt communication and engagement approaches across executives, functional leaders, subject-matter experts and project teams.
  • Recognize organizational dynamics and stakeholder concerns early, and develop practical pathways toward alignment.
  • Communicate complex topics simply, concisely and credibly.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, Economics or a related discipline; advanced degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in strategy, strategic finance, business operations, management consulting, transformation, portfolio management or complex program leadership, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated success independently structuring and solving ambiguous, cross-functional business problems.
  • Proven program leadership experience driving complex initiatives across multiple functions, stakeholder groups and geographies.
  • Strong financial and business acumen, including business cases, investment evaluation, scenario analysis and interpretation of P&L and operational performance.
  • Experience influencing senior stakeholders and navigating complex, global matrix organizations.
  • Advanced analytical capability and proficiency with Excel and executive-level PowerPoint.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, facilitation and executive communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA, Master’s or other relevant advanced degree.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.
  • Experience in life sciences, analytical instrumentation, manufacturing, supply chain, regulated industries or similarly complex operating environments.
  • Experience supporting enterprise or functional strategy, long-range planning, portfolio governance or strategic finance.
  • Experience with Power BI and enterprise collaboration, roadmapping or portfolio-management platforms such as Microsoft Project, SharePoint, Teams or Smartsheet.
  • Demonstrated application of generative AI, AI-assisted analysis or automated workflows in an enterprise environment.
  • Relevant certification or training in program/project management, Agile, Lean Six Sigma or change management.

Required Skills & Competencies:

  • Strategic problem solving: Frames the right questions, creates structure from ambiguity, tests assumptions and develops practical recommendations.
  • Execution discipline: Converts decisions into clear ownership, milestones and follow-through; anticipates risks and closes loops.
  • Financial and analytical judgment: Connects operational choices to financial outcomes and distinguishes meaningful signals from reporting noise.
  • AI-enabled productivity: Uses modern AI tools thoughtfully to improve speed, quality, synthesis and scalability while applying sound judgment and enterprise safeguards.
  • Influence and relationship navigation: Builds trust, integrates diverse perspectives and advances work without direct authority.
  • Executive communication: Synthesizes complexity into concise, decision-ready narratives, visuals and recommendations.
  • Learning agility and ownership: Quickly develops business context, operates independently and demonstrates sound judgment in unfamiliar situations.
  • Quality and accountability: Maintains high standards for accuracy, detail, responsiveness and completion.

Measures of Success:

  • Leaders have clearer choices and higher-quality information for strategic decisions.
  • Strategic priorities translate into executable plans with clear ownership, milestones, investment requirements and measures of success.
  • Financial and operational implications are visible before decisions are made.
  • Cross-functional programs progress faster because risks, dependencies and stakeholder issues are surfaced and resolved early.
  • Strategy and portfolio discussions increasingly rely on common data, fact-based scenarios and consistent measures.
  • AI and modern analytical tools reduce manual effort and improve the speed and quality of decision support.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
