**This role is 100% onsite and NOT remote or hybrid.

Job Overview

AGS is a leading supplier of innovative games and systems for the global gaming industry. Our mission is to deliver superior casino gaming products that elevate the player’s experience while maximizing operational value for our customers.

The SQA Engineer II is responsible for planning, authoring, and executing the test plans that qualify AGS Table Games products for release. The primary focus is our table progressive products, covering backend services, APIs, jackpot and meter logic, integrations, and user interfaces. The role also covers system level validation of our card shuffler products, where software, firmware, and physical hardware meet.

This position carries a second mandate. Table Games engineering manages test coverage in spreadsheets today and intends to move to a proper test case management platform. No product has been selected yet, and the person hired into this role will be welcome to take part in that evaluation and selection. They will then stand the platform up, migrate existing coverage into it, and make it the working system of record for test cases, test runs, and reporting.

Use of AI is central to how we expect this role to work. The SQA Engineer II will use AI tooling to generate and maintain test cases and test scripts, applying judgment to review and validate generated output rather than accepting it. Candidates who already work this way will be strongly preferred.

The position is based in the Las Vegas office and works closely with software, firmware, and hardware engineers across the Table Games portfolio, including teams in Duluth, GA. Table Games engineering runs on the Atlassian suite, so day to day work happens in Jira and Confluence.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and execute detailed test plans and test cases for table progressive products and card shuffler products.
  • Own functional, regression, integration, and system level testing across development and release cycles.
  • Validate progressive backend services, APIs, jackpot and meter logic, and third party integrations, including correctness of transactional and financial data across system boundaries.
  • Perform system level validation of shuffler products, covering firmware behavior, host communication, and end to end product behavior.
  • Write and maintain automated tests within established automation frameworks, at the API layer and in the user interface.
  • Use AI tooling to generate, expand, and maintain test cases and test scripts, reviewing and validating all generated output before it enters the test suite.
  • Take part in the evaluation and selection of a test case management platform for Table Games engineering, then stand it up and migrate existing spreadsheet based coverage into it.
  • Maintain the test case repository so that cases are versioned, traceable to requirements, and executable by other engineers without the author present.
  • Execute guided test runs from the platform and produce test run reports for engineering and product stakeholders.
  • Maintain test plans, test strategy, and quality documentation in Confluence, and track defects and test related work in Jira.
  • Reproduce, isolate, and document defects in Jira with clear reproduction steps, logs, and evidence, and verify fixes when they land.
  • Define and track quality metrics including test coverage, pass rate, defect density, and defect escape rate.
  • Produce test documentation and evidence to the standard required for regulatory and jurisdictional submissions, supporting the group that owns those submissions.
  • Participate in requirement and design reviews to identify testability gaps before development begins.
  • Support release readiness decisions with clear, evidence based assessments of quality and outstanding risk.

Qualifications & Skills

Core Technical Competencies

  • BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 to 5 years of software quality assurance experience, including ownership of test plans for a product or major component.
  • Strong experience authoring detailed, reproducible test cases from requirements and design documents.
  • Demonstrated experience testing backend services and APIs, not only user interfaces.

Test Management and Engineering Tools

  • Hands-on proficiency with at least one recognized test management platform, such as TestRail, Zephyr Scale, Xray, or Tricentis qTest.
  • Day-to-day proficiency with the Atlassian suite. Table Games engineering runs on Jira for issue and defect tracking and Confluence for documentation.
  • Experience organizing a test case repository, including suites, versioning, and traceability from requirement to test case to result.
  • Experience executing guided test runs from a platform and producing test run reports for stakeholders.
  • Willingness to take part in selecting our platform and to lead the migration away from spreadsheet based test management. No product has been chosen yet, so we value the perspective of someone who has worked inside one.

AI in Test Development

  • Current, hands-on use of AI tooling to generate and maintain test cases and test scripts. This is a requirement, not a preference.
  • Ability to prompt effectively from requirements, user stories, and design documents, and to critically review generated output rather than accepting it.
  • Judgment about where AI generation adds real coverage and where it produces suites that look complete but are not.
  • Interest in extending AI use further across the test workflow as the tooling matures.

Test Automation

  • Hands-on experience writing and maintaining automated tests within an established automation framework.
  • Automation experience at the API layer, with working familiarity with user interface automation.
  • Working knowledge of at least one language used for test automation, such as Python, C#, or JavaScript.
  • Experience integrating automated test execution into a CI pipeline.

Systems and Integration Testing

  • Experience testing systems that span services, databases, and user interfaces.
  • Ability to validate data correctness across system boundaries, including transactional and financial data.
  • Exposure to message based or event driven integrations.
  • Comfort testing products where software, firmware, and physical hardware interact.

Regulated and Production Environments

  • Experience producing test documentation and evidence suitable for audit or regulatory review.
  • Understanding of traceability and reproducibility requirements in a controlled release process.
  • Familiarity with controlled change management and versioned release practices.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a gaming license.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Strong written communication, particularly in defect reports and test documentation.
  • Ability to communicate quality risk clearly to engineering and product stakeholders, including when the answer is unwelcome.
  • Works effectively with software, firmware, and hardware engineers across sites.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent test efforts and report progress reliably.

Nice to Have

  • Casino gaming experience, particularly with table games, progressive systems, or card shufflers.
  • Experience with a Jira native test management option such as Zephyr Scale or Xray, given our Atlassian footprint.
  • Familiarity with GLI standards and jurisdictional submission processes.
  • Experience testing C# and .NET backend services, or writing SQL against Microsoft SQL Server.
  • ISTQB or equivalent software testing certification.
  • Exposure to performance, load, or soak testing.

All offers are contingent upon successful completion of a background check.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
