About the Role

Report to: Chief Customer & Information Technology Officer Location: Ho Chi Minh Function: Customer & Information Technology | Department: IT Quality Control Type: Managerial

THE OPPORTUNITY:

We are looking for Senior Manager, IT Quality Control who is accountable for

  • Establishing and leading the end-to-end quality engineering and testing capability across the IT function.
  • Ensuring that applications, digital platforms, data solutions, integrations, infrastructure changes, and technology services are delivered with appropriate levels of quality, reliability, security, performance, and customer experience.
  • Modernizing traditional quality control practices into a preventive, engineering-led model. This includes risk-based testing, shift-left quality, automation, continuous testing within delivery pipelines, production quality insights, and responsible use of AI-assisted testing.
  • Partnering with business, product, engineering, architecture, cybersecurity, operations, project delivery, risk, compliance, and external service providers to ensure clear ownership of quality throughout the technology lifecycle.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Quality Strategy, Governance & Assurance (20%)

  • Define and execute a multi-year quality engineering and testing strategy aligned with business priorities, technology strategy, risk appetite, and customer outcomes.
  • Establish and maintain policies, standards, methods, quality gates, entry and exit criteria, role accountabilities, evidence requirements, and exception governance.
  • Define a coherent quality measurement framework covering leading and lagging indicators across delivery and production.
  • Provide independent, evidence-based release quality assessments and escalate material quality risks before deployment.
  • Periodically assess maturity, identify control or capability gaps, and sponsor measurable improvement plans.

2. Quality Engineering & Test Delivery (25%)

  • Oversee test strategy, estimation, planning, design, execution, evidence, reporting, and closure for technology initiatives.
  • Apply risk-based testing to focus effort on customer-critical journeys, material business processes, data integrity, security, resilience, and regulatory obligations.
  • Ensure appropriate coverage across functional, system integration, API, data, mobile, regression, performance, resilience, accessibility, compatibility, security, and operational readiness testing.
  • Ensure effective requirements traceability, environment readiness, test data management, defect triage, and acceptance evidence.
  • Improve early collaboration among product, business analysis, architecture, engineering, operations, cybersecurity, and quality specialists.

3. Automation, Continuous Testing & AI Enablement (20%)

  • Define and deliver the test automation roadmap across web, mobile, API, integration, and data platforms.
  • Embed automated quality controls and continuous testing into CI/CD pipelines, with risk-appropriate checks and transparent exception handling.
  • Establish maintainable automation architecture, coding standards, reusable assets, test data approaches, and tool lifecycle governance.
  • Use AI-assisted testing responsibly to improve test design, coverage analysis, defect insights, and productivity, subject to security, privacy, validation, and human oversight requirements.
  • Measure automation effectiveness based on risk coverage, maintainability, execution reliability, cycle-time improvement, and production outcomes rather than script volume alone.

4. Defect Prevention, Production Quality & Continuous Improvement (15%)

  • Establish consistent defect classification, prioritization, ageing, closure, and trend-analysis practices.
  • Lead quality-focused root cause analysis for major production defects and recurring failure patterns, with accountable preventive actions.
  • Connect delivery quality metrics with production incidents, service stability, customer impact, and operational outcomes.
  • Lead post-implementation quality reviews and convert lessons learned into standards, reusable controls, and capability improvements.
  • Champion prevention and shared quality ownership rather than reliance on final-stage defect detection.

5. Stakeholder, Vendor & Financial Management (10%)

  • Provide concise, transparent reporting on quality status, significant risks, release readiness, decisions required, and remediation progress.
  • Partner with business and technology leaders to agree risk-based quality outcomes, acceptance responsibilities, and escalation paths.
  • Define measurable quality obligations for technology vendors and hold providers accountable for delivery quality, evidence, remediation, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage the function within approved budgets and optimise the balance between internal capability, strategic partners, automation, and specialist services.
  • Represent Quality Engineering and Testing in relevant technology, delivery, risk, and release governance forums.

6. People Leadership & Capability Building (10%)

  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team with clear objectives, role expectations, feedback, development plans, and succession coverage.
  • Build capability in automation, API and data testing, performance and resilience, security testing, cloud quality, test architecture, analytics, and AI-assisted testing.
  • Promote accountability, constructive challenge, continuous learning, inclusion, and collaboration across organizational boundaries.
  • Develop a flexible workforce model that can respond to portfolio demand while retaining critical institutional knowledge and control ownership.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Postgraduate qualification is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • At least 10 years of relevant technology experience, including at least 5 years in a managerial or senior quality leadership role.
  • Demonstrated leadership of enterprise-scale quality assurance, quality engineering, or testing across complex technology portfolios.
  • Experience operating across Agile, iterative, Waterfall, DevOps, and vendor-delivered environments.
  • Experience designing or scaling automation, continuous testing, defect governance, release assurance, and quality measurement.
  • Experience working with digital channels, APIs, integrations, data platforms, cloud services, and core enterprise applications.
  • Experience managing internal teams and external service providers in a regulated or control-focused environment is preferred.
  • Software development lifecycle, product delivery, Agile practices, DevOps / DevSecOps, and release management.
  • Test strategy, risk-based testing, test design, test management, requirements traceability, and defect lifecycle management.
  • Test automation architecture and frameworks for web, mobile, API, integration, and data testing.
  • CI/CD quality controls, source control, environment management, test data management, and observability principles.
  • Performance, resilience, security, compatibility, accessibility, and operational readiness testing concepts.
  • Quality metrics, analytics, root cause analysis, process improvement, control design, and audit evidence.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
