Aicadium is seeking for a Director of Data Science to lead our growing team of Data Scientists (DS) across multiple computer vision and machine learning projects. This role is based in our Singapore office and works closely with colleagues in San Diego.

We are looking for a hands-on technical leader who pairs deep CV/ML expertise with the ability to plan, staff, and deliver data science work alongside product, delivery, and client stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

• Lead a larger DS team and manage multiple data science projects at once, planning scope, schedule resources, and budget alongside product, delivery, and client stakeholders.

• Engage stakeholders to plan Epics and Tasks, assign work, and lead code integration within the DS team.

• Identify new business and product opportunities, and bring together complementary technical approaches to solve hard problems.

• Provide guidance, mentorship, and expert code review to the team; collect team feedback through sprint retros and identify growth opportunities such as conferences and advanced workshops.

• Build a high-trust team environment by promoting open communication, balancing workloads equitably, and helping team members work effectively across different styles.

Skills & Requirements: • Minimum 8 years of experience in data science or ML, including minimum 3 years leading DS teams.

• Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, or a related discipline.

• Comprehensive knowledge of one or more areas of AI, following the state of the art across multiple domains of Computer Vision (CV) and Machine Learning (ML).

• Proven ability to implement and rigorously test research papers, and intermediate-level AI systems design: optimisation, parsimony, and failure-mode prediction.

• Expert in Python, OpenCV, and object-oriented programming; intermediate to expert with databases.

• Broad expertise across ML frameworks, and expert data visualisation skills that convey insight clearly.

• Strong MLOps judgment: able to advise on and critique engineering standards; expert in data processing and workflow orchestration; intermediate to expert in model serving; intermediate with data streaming and message queues.

• Advanced/expert code review and debugging skills.

• Excellent in communication with technical and non-technical audiences (peers, executives, customers), able to synthesise new ideas and translate complex issues into easy-to-understand terms.

• Comfortable in a fast-paced environment, with the independence to lead through ambiguity.

Nice to Have:

• Relevant project or agile certification, such as Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) or Project Management Professional (PMP).
