Make your mark in Risk Engineering

AIG Risk Engineering is a global team of over 160 professionals supporting underwriters, brokers and clients across Commercial Property, Energy, Casualty and Marine product lines. Operating in more than 200 countries, the team helps identify, quantify and manage risk to support informed business and underwriting decisions. This involves partnering directly with clients through on-site assessments, while collaborating with underwriters and brokers to provide risk insights, navigate complex exposures and support effective risk management strategies.

How you will create an impact

Join a dynamic career where no two days are the same, with opportunities for site visits, client engagement and travel across a range of industries. Working closely with underwriters and clients, you will develop expertise in natural catastrophe exposures, manufacturing processes and commercial risks, while helping assess exposures, identify vulnerabilities and support risk mitigation strategies. This role offers valuable industry exposure and the opportunity to build strong stakeholder relationships while developing the skills to help clients enhance their business resilience.

Key accountabilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Conduct site surveys of commercial, industrial, and infrastructure facilities insured by AIG.
  • Assess property risks including fire protection systems, electrical infrastructure, flammable liquids and gases, storage arrangements, production processes, and operational hazards.
  • Evaluate casualty exposures arising from site operations, products, contractors, fleet activities, and public interactions.
  • Assess natural catastrophe exposures including flood, bushfire, windstorm, earthquake, and hail.
  • Identify vulnerabilities that could contribute to major property damage, business interruption, environmental, or liability losses.
  • Apply AIG risk assessment methodologies to evaluate risk quality and recommend improvements.
  • Review third-party engineering and risk reports to support underwriting assessments and account risk selection.
  • Develop fire, flood, and other loss estimates to support underwriting decisions and portfolio management.
  • Work closely with underwriters to communicate key risk strengths, weaknesses, exposures, and practical risk mitigation opportunities.
  • Build technical expertise through training, mentoring, client engagement, and exposure to diverse industries, operations, and risk management practices.

What you’ll need to succeed:

  • Candidates MUST have graduated within the last 2 years prior to 2027.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technology or Science required.
  • AIG seeks candidates who have demonstrated strong academic achievement and a genuine interest in engineering risk assessment and client service.
  • Excellent computer skills including the Microsoft Office suite of applications.
  • A curious nature with strong communication skills (verbal and written) and the ability to engage effectively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Enthusiastic team player with the ability to collaborate across teams and contribute to positive business and client outcomes.
  • Confident and capable of operating effectively under pressure while maintaining a high standard of professional service.
  • Ability to build, develop and maintain positive relationships with internal stakeholders, broker partners and clients.
  • High level of initiative and ability to prioritise tasks in an agile environment along with excellent time management and organisational ability.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess risk, evaluate information and support sound decision-making.
  • Physical ability to conduct multi-day surveys, which may include climbing ladders and extended periods on your feet.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
