The posting

Airbnb was born in 2007 when two hosts welcomed three guests to their San Francisco home, and has since grown to over 5 million hosts who have welcomed over 2 billion guest arrivals in almost every country across the globe. Every day, hosts offer unique stays and experiences that make it possible for guests to connect with communities in a more authentic way.

The Community You Will Join:

In Community Policy, our mission is to create and evolve principled policies that establish the rules of the road for guests and hosts across Airbnb. This involves solving some of the most complex Trust & Safety challenges of our time. Our work is informed by rigorous research and stakeholder collaboration, and we design policies that can support our community at scale. We team with our cross-functional partners to create accessible policy enforcement guides and to continuously maintain and improve our policies.

The Difference You Will Make:

As a Senior Manager for Community Policy, you will partner closely with stakeholders across the company to support Airbnb's strategic objectives. You will lead policy development in the anti-discrimination and safety space, addressing real-world harms and ensuring every host and guest is treated fairly. This role entails understanding the needs of hosts and guests and collaborating closely with our operations, legal, business, design, and product teams. The policies you build will directly shape how millions of hosts and guests experience Airbnb and their confidence in the platform.

About You

  • You are a seasoned policy leader who loves solving complex problems and collaborating cross-functionally.
  • You have deep expertise in the anti-discrimination space and a track record in safety policies addressing real-world harms.
  • You are an excellent communicator with exceptional writing skills.
  • You are an adept presenter with experience engaging with all levels of leadership, including senior executives.
  • You are a team player who thrives in a fast-moving environment and brings a strategic mindset and bias toward execution.
  • You are principled, have meticulous attention to detail, and incorporate diverse perspectives in pursuit of the best decisions and outcomes possible.
  • You are experienced at developing and implementing policies and measuring their effectiveness.
  • You are proactively data-driven: you don't wait for problems to surface — you seek out data, research, and insights to identify gaps and opportunities to improve policies before they become issues.

A Typical Day:

  • Have broad ownership over our policies affecting trust in Airbnb, especially in the anti-discrimination and safety space
  • Lead policy development and draft clear and scalable policy frameworks that keep pace with company priorities
  • Foster, build, and maintain relationships with cross-functional stakeholders across the business including Operations, Legal, Anti-Discrimination and Equity, Public Policy, Product, Communications, and Supply, acting as a trusted policy partner who helps teams move forward
  • Guide policy operationalization efforts in partnership with cross-functional stakeholders
  • Proactively use data, research, and community insights to evaluate existing policies, identify improvement opportunities, and drive revisions before issues escalate
  • Serve as subject matter expert to provide sound policy guidance for time-sensitive escalations, including from Operations and company leadership

Your Expertise:

  • 10-15+ years of experience in a Policy, Legal, or Trust and Safety role
  • Prior policy leadership addressing discrimination and safety issues in a complex international setting
  • Thoughtful business judgment, strategic thinking, and ability to work well under pressure
  • Exceptional writing and communication skills
  • Demonstrated capacity for critical thinking, research, and analysis
  • Strong attention to detail
  • A track record of strong leadership and an ability to independently manage a portfolio of challenging issues
  • Fluency in data analysis and leading data-driven decision-making
  • Deep understanding of the end-to-end policy process and how to influence policy delivery
  • Experience working in a matrix and driving solutions to complex problems through cross-functional collaboration
  • Ability to explain and simplify complex information to others

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
