How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

The Welding Process Intern is a developmental role designed to build foundational expertise in Airgas-specific welding processes, applications, and technical sales methodologies. Working under the guidance of a Welding Process Specialist, the intern will support the "Target Zero" safety culture while learning to utilize the Airgas Advanced Fabrication Sales Methodology to drive profitable growth and operational efficiency.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Learning & Development: Gain in-depth technical knowledge of welding applications to assist in matching customer needs with Airgas products.
  • Sales Support: Assist in promoting profitable sales of welding processes to small and midsize customers.
  • Field Experience: Shadow specialists during customer site visits to observe current welding processes and identify potential Airgas solutions.
  • Tool Proficiency: Develop the ability to use proprietary sales tools, such as Welding Surveys and Efficiency Analysis.
  • Marketing Support: Provide customers with technical literature regarding shielding gases and welding products.
  • Safety Advocacy: Maintain a safe work environment and proactively promote safety standards to associates and customers.

Are you a MATCH?

REQUIRED:

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited university majoring in Welding Engineering or similar discipline preferred.
  • Third or fourth year student preferred.
  • A strong interest in and understanding of welding processes, welding economics.
  • Willingness to prepare for the Certified Welding Inspector and Certified Welding Supervisor (CWI, CWS) exam.
  • Strong mathematical, problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to apply to customer sales analysis and cost comparisons.
  • Exhibits customer focused behavior such as building positive relationships and the ability to understand both internal and external customer needs.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A positive approach and willingness to learn coupled with the ability to work in a team environment
  • Proficient in Google suite applications include Gmail, Sheets, and Docs.
  • Ability to work in the United States on a full-time, permanent basis

Preferred:

  • Enrolled at Ferris State University
  • Pursuing a degree in Welding Engineering with a GPA of 3.0 or higher
