Akamai is expanding its specialist sales organization to secure the next frontier of enterprise digital business: APIs and autonomous AI systems. Today, every modern application relies on APIs. Every enterprise deploying Large Language Models (LLMs) is introducing autonomous software agents into production.

Become an API Security Sales Specialist

As a Senior Sales Specialist, you will spearhead Akamai's go-to-market strategy. Across Southeast Asia for our advanced application security portfolio: Akamai API Security, Agent Security and Firewall for AI. As pursuit lead, along with sales, presales, and channel partners identify and close cybersecurity opportunities in banking, telecommunications, and digital accounts.

You will be responsible for:

  • Owning specialist sales quota and regional pursuit strategy for Akamai's API, AI Agent Security, Firewall for AI solutions across Southeast Asia.
  • Engaging and influence senior decision-makers across the CISO organization, Application Security (AppSec), Platform Engineering, Enterprise Architecture, and Cloud/AI Innovation teams.
  • Acting as strategic quarterback on target accounts, collaborating with Sales, Solutions Engineering, Channel Alliances, and Managed Security teams to accelerate pipeline.
  • Leading, build business cases around regulatory compliance (e.g., MAS TRM/TPRM, privacy mandates), navigate security bake-offs, guide opportunities to closure using MEDDPICC.
  • Articulating how Akamai uniquely addresses both runtime business threats and build-time software supply chain risks, establishing Akamai's stance in AI adoption.

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

  • 6+ years of quota-carrying cybersecurity/ SaaS sales experience, with consistentency of closing enterprise deals ($250k ARR/ 7-figure TCV) across Southeast Asia.
  • Demonstrate technical fluency in API (REST, GraphQL, gRPC), API Gateways, modern AppSec (OWASP Top 10), cloud-native applications (AWS, Azure, GCP, Kubernetes).
  • Be conversant with enterprise Generative AI architectures, autonomous agents, Model Context Protocol (MCP), emerging risks (prompt injection, excessive agency, data exfiltration).
  • Demonstrate mastery of structured sales qualification frameworks (MEDDPICC, Challenger, or Force Management) with exceptional forecasting accuracy and pipeline management.
  • Have established executive network and commercial familiarity navigating large financial institutions, telcos, and conglomerates across Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia.
  • Be a proactive self-starter with high intellectual curiosity who thrives in high-growth, category-defining markets and able to create net-new demand.
