The posting

At Alamar, we are passionate about enabling our customers to make scientific discoveries that translate into clinical outcomes and benefit patients. Our team is growing quickly as we develop innovative approaches to measure critical protein biomarkers from liquid samples that can enable the earliest possible detection of disease. We believe the next frontier in biology is enabled by measuring proteins at higher sensitivity in highly multiplexed assays at the push of a button, which is something only Alamar can do. As we build our team, we seek collaborative, driven, intellectually curious people committed to solving complex challenges. Our culture rewards accountability and cross functional teamwork because we believe this enables the kind of breakthrough thinking that will accelerate our mission.

The Senior Accountant will also play a key role in fixed asset accounting, sales and use tax reporting, external audits, SOX compliance, and public-company reporting activities.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules as part of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
  • Support global consolidation activities, including intercompany transactions, reconciliations, eliminations, and foreign-currency accounting, as applicable.
  • Analyze balance sheet and income statement accounts, investigate variances, and resolve accounting discrepancies on a timely basis.
  • Maintain accurate fixed asset records, including asset additions, disposals, depreciation, construction-in-progress, and periodic reconciliations.
  • Support sales and use tax reporting through Avalara, including related filings, registrations, and account reconciliations.
  • Support financial statement preparation and tie-outs, quarterly roll-forwards, and related public-company reporting activities.
  • Support external financial audits and reviews, including serving as a point of contact for audit requests and coordinating the timely completion of audit deliverables.
  • Support SOX compliance activities, including control documentation, evidence preparation, walkthroughs, remediation activities, and testing support.
  • Prepare property tax filings, census reports, and other regulatory filings and reports as needed.
  • Partner cross-functionally with FP&A, Operations, Procurement, Payroll, Tax, and other business functions to improve accounting accuracy and resolve transaction-related matters.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that increase efficiency, strengthen controls, and support the scalability of the Finance organization.
  • Document accounting procedures, close processes, and internal control activities.
  • Support special projects, system implementations, and other Finance initiatives as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA certification or active progress toward CPA certification.
  • Five or more years of progressive accounting experience, including substantive responsibility for monthly and quarterly close activities.
  • Manufacturing, biotechnology, life sciences, or medical technology industry experience.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
  • Experience preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, financial analyses, and supporting schedules.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly advanced Excel skills, and experience using NetSuite or a comparable ERP system.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and collaborate effectively across functions.
  • Ability to manage multiple high-priority assignments and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience supporting external audits and internal controls.
  • Experience with global consolidations, intercompany accounting, and foreign-currency transactions.
  • Experience with Avalara, Workday, or similar financial and close-management systems, as applicable to Alamar’s actual systems environment.
  • Experience supporting ERP implementations, finance-system integrations, or accounting process improvements.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
