The Remediation Technician performs field remediation and drop-bury work in support of Alaska Communications services. This role is responsible for burying ground-laid copper and fiber drops, restoring affected lawns and minor landscaping, and completing assigned work safely, professionally, and in accordance with company standards. The technician works outdoors in varied terrain and weather conditions, uses light power tools and manual tools, and coordinates with customers, field teams, and supervisors to protect existing utilities, minimize property disruption, and leave each jobsite clean and restored.

Key Responsibilities

  • Bury ground-laid copper and fiber drops using approved methods, routes, and depths; review work orders, site conditions, cable paths, and locate markings before work begins to protect utilities, customer property, and company facilities.
  • Perform lawn remediation and minor landscaping restoration after drop-bury or entrance cable work, including backfilling, leveling, reseeding or replacing disturbed surfaces where applicable, debris removal, and jobsite cleanup.
  • Safely use and maintain light power tools, vehicles, and manual tools, including post hole diggers, pruning shears, shovels, manual trenching devices, weed trimmers, and chain saws; inspect equipment and report repair or replacement needs.
  • Follow company safety practices, PPE requirements, traffic and pedestrian awareness practices, and applicable field procedures while performing physical outdoor work such as digging, trenching, lifting, carrying, bending, kneeling, and walking over uneven ground in varied weather conditions.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, property owners, supervisors, and field personnel regarding work scope, access needs, site conditions, completion status, unsafe conditions, unmarked utilities, property concerns, or other issues requiring supervisor review.
  • Complete required documentation accurately, including photographs when required, work performed, materials used, restoration completed, access issues, follow-up needs, and other related remediation, drop-bury, or property restoration duties as assigned.

Required Competencies

  • Safety Awareness: Follow safe work practices, recognize field hazards, and use tools and equipment responsibly.
  • Tool Proficiency: Demonstrate practical ability with light power tools and manual tools used for digging, trimming, trenching, cutting, and restoration work.
  • Attention to Detail: Complete cable burial, restoration, cleanup, and documentation accurately and thoroughly.
  • Customer and Property Care: Treat customers, property owners, and worksites with professionalism and respect while minimizing disruption.
  • Reliability: Work dependably, follow directions, complete assigned work on schedule, and communicate field issues promptly.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
