The posting

Align Builders is on a mission to redefine the construction experience. We are seeking an Estimator to join our Self-Perform Division, someone who possesses strong values, communicates clearly, displays a consistently strong work ethic, and is eager to build lasting relationships. This role supports our self-perform estimating efforts across framing, drywall, and related scopes, providing reliable and competitive estimates our clients can trust with confidence. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing company with a clear focus and purpose.

Competencies / Characteristics Required: Team player with a reputation of hard work and strong personal values. Humble, hungry, and sharp. Aptitude and passion to learn, listen, and grow. Thinks big picture and long term. Can be trusted to hold themselves accountable and do the right thing even when no one is looking. Quick to take responsibility and slow to assign blame. Maintains a positive and professional attitude under pressure, responding thoughtfully instead of emotionally. Can competently interpret plans, specifications, and code. Communicates effectively and clearly. Works diligently and urgently, skillfully prioritizing time across multiple tasks and assignments.

Essential Functions and Abilities Required: Builds accurate, competitive estimates for self-perform framing and drywall scopes, with familiarity in ACT and plaster estimating as well. Performs detailed takeoffs using Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, or similar software. Willing to walk jobsites during the estimating phase to verify field conditions and scope. Coordinates directly with project architects, designers, owners, subcontractors, and field personnel. Applies HCAI/OSHPS project experience, including familiarity with infection control requirements, multi-phase work, and occupied facility constraints. Manages and distributes information during the project pursuit/preconstruction process, addendums, ASIs, pre-bid RFIs, preliminary schedules, standard contract documents, etc. Responsible for directly communicating estimate status and critical issues to clients and trade partners. Supports the preconstruction manager to ensure client deliverable dates and RFP requirements are met. Manages and tracks historical cost data on past pursuits, and maintains current cost data in our databases. Ability to evaluate and level bids received by subcontractors and confidently present the "best value" subcontractor to the client. Participates in constructability reviews to identify constructability issues, drawing discrepancies, VE options, etc. Assists with estimating hand-off to project teams and supports project start-up and trade procurement. Open to learning and estimating additional scopes over time, including paint, concrete, or millwork. Comfortable exploring AI or other new technology tools to improve estimating efficiency.

Education / Experience Required: 2-5 years of estimating experience, ideally with framing and drywall scopes. HCAI / OSHPD project experience preferred. Bachelor's degree not require but preferred. Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff or similar takeoff software, and project management software (Procore). Experience with Building Connected, Destini, Sage/Timberline, Winest, or other estimating and bid solicitation software is a plus. Interpersonal skills: ability to engage with clients, internal team members, and trade contractors in a constructive, productive way to overcome obstacles and achieve results.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
