Company Description

Are you an experienced veterinary receptionist who enjoys helping people, staying organized, and being part of a team that cares deeply about animals? Homestead Veterinary Hospital is looking for a compassionate, team-oriented veterinary receptionist who brings strong communication skills, a calm approach, and a passion for outstanding client service.

Our six-doctor practice cares for a diverse caseload of approximately 70% equine, 25% small animal, and 5% small ruminant patients. From beloved backyard companions to high-level performance horses, we support a wide range of veterinary needs, including equine sports medicine. While much of our work is ambulatory, we also have a 10,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art hospital equipped with indoor stocks and four stalls, including dedicated mare/foal and isolation spaces.

As a veterinary receptionist, you’ll play an important role in creating a welcoming experience for clients and helping our veterinary team keep each day running smoothly. If you enjoy connecting with people, managing multiple priorities, and making a difference for pets, horses, and their owners, we’d love to hear from you!

Job Description

What You’ll Do

  • Welcome clients and patients with a friendly, professional attitude and help maintain a clean, organized, and inviting reception area.
  • Answer incoming phone calls and emails, respond to questions, and direct client concerns to the appropriate veterinary team member.
  • Schedule appointments efficiently while supporting daily workflow and the changing needs of a busy veterinary practice.
  • Check clients in and out, process payments, and help ensure a smooth experience from the first call through the end of the visit.
  • Provide compassionate, discreet emotional support to clients during difficult situations, recognizing that veterinary care can involve challenging and unexpected outcomes.
  • Communicate clearly with clients and colleagues while balancing competing priorities and keeping important details organized.

What We’re Looking For

  • At least one year of veterinary experience is required, preferably in a veterinary receptionist or similar client-facing role.
  • A compassionate, calm, and team-oriented approach to client and patient care.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to handle sensitive conversations with empathy and professionalism.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a busy environment.
  • Computer proficiency and the ability to learn new systems and technology.
  • A proactive, dependable attitude and a genuine interest in continuing to develop your knowledge and skills.

You should also be comfortable working in a veterinary hospital environment where you may encounter unpleasant odors and noises, animal waste, bites, scratches, and potentially contagious diseases.

Training and Career Development

Whether you want to become an expert in your veterinary receptionist role or grow toward your next career opportunity, we want to help you succeed. You’ll have access to a variety of virtual learning opportunities, hands-on training, and interactive professional development to build your skills and expand your knowledge of veterinary practice operations.

At Homestead Veterinary Hospital, your ability to support clients, communicate with the team, and help create a positive experience matters. Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
