Production Supervisor – Fermentation Operations Job Summary The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily fermentation production operations and supervising Fermentation Associates to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing performance. This role coordinates staffing, production schedules, inventory management, and process compliance while supporting continuous improvement initiatives. The Production Supervisor partners with Quality, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and Warehouse teams to achieve operational goals and maintain a safe, productive work environment.

Required Skills/Abilities

Strong knowledge of manufacturing operations, fermentation processes, and production equipment. Proven leadership and team development skills. Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and decision-making abilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of safety regulations, GMPs, and quality standards. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Mechanical aptitude and ability to support equipment troubleshooting. Experience with inventory management and production planning. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365).

Duties/Responsibilities

Supervise and direct the daily activities of Fermentation Associates. Coordinate staffing and production schedules to meet operational requirements and production goals. Monitor production performance, fermentation processes, and quality standards. Print Batch Cards Provide training, coaching, and performance feedback to employees. Ensure compliance with safety procedures, GMPs, company policies, and regulatory requirements. Monitor inventory levels of raw materials, supplies, and production resources. Investigate and resolve production, quality, inventory, equipment, and personnel issues. Collaborate with Maintenance, Quality, Supply Chain, and Warehouse teams to improve operational efficiency. Support preventive maintenance activities to minimize downtime. Maintain accurate production records and documentation. Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities. Ensure manufacturing areas, equipment, and materials remain clean, organized, and sanitary. Perform other duties as assigned to support operational objectives.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises Fermentation Associates and assigned production personnel. Responsible for employee scheduling, training, development, and performance management. Conducts employee evaluations and provides coaching and corrective action when necessary. Assists with interviewing, hiring, and onboarding new employees. Promotes a positive team culture focused on safety, quality, accountability, and productivity.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Operations, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered. Minimum of three years of manufacturing, production, fermentation, inventory management, or related operational experience. Previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred. Experience in feed, grain, supplement, food, fermentation, or similar manufacturing environments preferred. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work flexible schedules, including 12-hour shifts (day or night), weekends, and overtime as needed.

Physical Requirements

Must be physically able to operate a motor vehicle and forklift. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally. Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, and bend for extended periods. Ability to wear a respirator in designated areas. Must pass post-offer physical and drug screen. Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures and noise levels. Ability to respond to production issues throughout the facility as needed.
