Location: Rock Hill High School – Prosper, TX Address: 402 South Craig Road, Prosper, TX 75078 Position: Cook Schedule: Monday – Friday Hours: 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM Pay Rate: $16.00 per hour Job Type: Temp-to-Perm

Position Summary

We are currently seeking dependable and hardworking Cooks to join the food service team at Rock Hill High School in Prosper, Texas.

This is a Monday through Friday, temp-to-perm opportunity that offers a consistent daytime schedule. The Cook will assist with preparing and serving meals while maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen environment.

The ideal candidate will have previous cooking, cafeteria, restaurant, or food service experience and must be comfortable working in a busy school kitchen environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook food according to established menus, recipes, and portion guidelines.
  • Assist with daily meal preparation and food service.
  • Wash, cut, chop, measure, and prepare ingredients.
  • Operate commercial kitchen equipment safely and properly.
  • Monitor food temperatures and ensure food is prepared and stored safely.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene requirements.
  • Properly label, date, store, and rotate food products.
  • Maintain clean and organized food preparation and cooking areas.
  • Clean and sanitize countertops, utensils, equipment, and kitchen workstations.
  • Assist with setting up and breaking down food service areas.
  • Restock food and supplies as needed.
  • Follow procedures designed to prevent cross-contamination and foodborne illness.
  • Work cooperatively with kitchen staff, supervisors, and school personnel.
  • Follow all workplace and school safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional food service and kitchen duties as assigned.

Candidate Requirements

  • Previous cook, cafeteria, restaurant, kitchen, or food service experience preferred.
  • Must be dependable and have excellent attendance.
  • Must be able to work Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
  • Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to bend, reach, lift, and perform repetitive kitchen duties.
  • Ability to safely lift and carry food products, supplies, pots, pans, and other kitchen items as required.
  • Must have reliable transportation to the Prosper, TX work location.
  • Must maintain a professional appearance and follow all hygiene and food safety requirements.

Background & Fingerprinting Requirements

Because this position is located within a school environment, candidates must successfully complete all required pre-employment screening.

Candidates must:

  • Have a clean background.
  • Successfully complete the required background check.
  • Be willing and able to complete fingerprinting prior to or as part of the placement process.
  • Meet all required eligibility and clearance standards to work within the school environment.
