About the Role

Alt Legal Assist is the managed services arm of Alt Legal, a leading trademark docketing and management platform. Our Assist team provides high-quality trademark support directly to law firms and corporate IP departments, working as an extension of their teams.

We are looking for a Senior Trademark Paralegal to join our paralegal team in a primarily substantive capacity. This role is focused on trademark clearance, prosecution support, and light litigation assistance. You will work across a varied client base and be expected to manage your own workload, communicate proactively, and deliver work product that is accurate and deadline-ready. This is a great fit for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment and takes ownership of their work.

Key Responsibilities

Clearance & Searching

• Conduct comprehensive trademark clearance searches using Corsearch, CompuMark, TM TKO or similar platforms

• Prepare and deliver professional search reports with risk analysis and prosecution recommendations

• Perform knockout and full clearance searches across U.S. federal, state, and common law records

• Coordinate international clearance searches through foreign associates as needed

USPTO Prosecution Support

• Draft responses to USPTO Office Actions, including likelihood of confusion refusals, descriptiveness refusals, identification of goods/services issues, and procedural matters

• Prepare and file trademark applications, statements of use, extensions of time, renewals (Sections 8, 9, 15), and other maintenance filings

• Monitor application status and deadlines; coordinate with attorneys on strategy and responses

• Prepare and file Letters of Protest where appropriate

Litigation & Enforcement Support

• Assist with TTAB proceedings, including preparation of filings for oppositions, cancellations, and extensions of time

• Conduct research in support of enforcement matters, including use investigations and cease-and-desist correspondence

• Organize and maintain litigation files; prepare document productions and chronologies as needed

• Draft and coordinate watch notices and infringement summaries for client review

Portfolio & Client Management

• Manage active trademark portfolios for multiple clients simultaneously with a high degree of accuracy and organization

• Communicate directly with clients and foreign associates regarding status, strategy, and deadlines

• Identify potential deadline or procedural issues and escalate appropriately

• Maintain accurate records within Alt Legal's docketing platform and client-specific systems

Qualifications

Required

• 5+ years of trademark paralegal experience in a law firm or IP services environment

• Hands-on experience drafting Office Action responses, including refusals on substantive grounds

• Experience conducting and interpreting trademark clearance searches

• Familiarity with USPTO procedures, TMEP guidelines, and TTAB rules

• Strong written communication skills; able to draft clearly and concisely with minimal attorney revision

• Proven ability to manage multiple deadlines and client matters simultaneously

• Comfort working in a remote, technology-forward environment

Preferred

• Exposure to international trademark prosecution and working with foreign associates

• Experience supporting TTAB matters or other IP litigation

• Familiarity with time-tracking and project management tools (e.g., Harvest, ClickUp)

• Paralegal certificate or relevant undergraduate degree

What to Expect

This role operates within a collaborative, client-focused team environment. You will work closely with Alt Legal Assist's paralegal and docketing teams, and interact regularly with attorney contacts at client firms. We value clear communication, reliability, and a commitment to quality. You will be supported by strong systems and infrastructure, with the expectation that you bring substantive expertise and can work with significant independence on day-to-day tasks.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
