The Print Operations Manager, Flexo/Digital is responsible for leading all Flexographic and Digital Printing operations to ensure the safe, efficient, and high-quality production of roll and sheet labels that meet customer requirements and on-time delivery commitments. This role provides leadership for a complex print manufacturing environment that includes Flexographic Printing Presses, Digital Printing Presses, a Flexo/Digital Hybrid Press, Digital Cap Printing equipment, and slitting operations.

The Print Operations Manager maintains a strong floor presence, drives operational performance, develops frontline leadership and team members, and ensures production schedules are executed safely, efficiently, and with a commitment to quality and continuous improvement. The role supports multiple shift structures, including a 7-day rotating Flexo operation and a 5-day, 1st and 2nd shift Digital operation, with the flexibility to support future 24/7 operations as business needs evolve.

Key Responsibilities

1. Safety Leadership:

o Champion a safety-first culture throughout all print operations.

o Ensure compliance with all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

o Lead incident investigations and corrective actions.

o Drive employee engagement in safety programs, observations, and risk reduction activities.

2. Operations Management:

o Lead daily production activities across Flexographic and Digital Printing departments.

o Ensure production schedules are executed to meet customer demand, delivery commitments, and productivity targets.

o Monitor and improve key performance indicators including:

· Safety

· Quality

· Schedule attainment

· Waste and scrap reduction

· Equipment uptime

· Labor efficiency

· On-time delivery

o Coordinate resources to balance production requirements across multiple printing technologies.

o Identify and remove operational constraints impacting throughput and service.

3. Quality & Customer Focus:

o Partner with Quality and Customer Service teams to meet customer specifications.

o Ensure compliance with approved print standards, artwork controls, color management requirements, and quality systems.

o Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for customer complaints and internal quality issues.

o Drive a right-first-time manufacturing culture.

4. Production Equipment Oversight:

o Provide leadership and operational support for:

o Flexographic Roll Label Printing Presses

o Flexographic Sheet Label Printing Presses

o Digital Roll Label Printing Presses

o Digital Cap Printing Equipment

o Flexo/Digital Hybrid Printing Press

o Three Digital Slitter Machines

o Ensure equipment performance, reliability, capacity utilization, and operator effectiveness meet business objectives.

5. Leadership & Talent Development:

o Lead, coach, and develop supervisors, leads, and production employees.

o Build team capability through training, cross-training, coaching, and performance development.

o Establish clear expectations and accountability for safety, quality, productivity, and attendance.

o Participate in succession planning and workforce development initiatives.

6. Inventory and Supply Chain:

o Assist in managing inventory levels to ensure uninterrupted production while minimizing excess stock.

o Coordinate with the supply chain team to ensure timely delivery of raw materials and components.

7. Reporting and Documentation:

o Prepare and present regular reports on production performance, including productivity, quality, and safety metrics.

o Maintain accurate records of production activities and other operational data.

8. Continuous Improvement:

o Drive Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.

o Utilize data and metrics to identify opportunities for process improvement.

o Lead projects focused on productivity gains, waste reduction, quality improvements, and cost savings.

o Partner with Maintenance, Engineering, Scheduling, and Quality teams to improve operational performance.

9. Financial Improvement:

o Manage labor, material usage, and operational expenses.

o Support annual budgeting and capital planning activities.

o Identify cost-reduction opportunities while maintaining service and quality standards.

  • Reasonable mandatory overtime may be required due to business needs.

Qualifications:

Education

· Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Business, Printing Technology, or related field preferred.

· Equivalent combination of education and manufacturing leadership experience may be considered.

Experience

· Minimum 5-7 years of manufacturing leadership experience.

· Experience in printing, packaging, converting, labels, graphics, or related manufacturing strongly preferred.

· Experience with Flexographic Printing and/or Digital Printing technologies preferred.

· Experience leading multi-shift manufacturing operations required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

· Strong manufacturing leadership and floor management skills.

· Thorough understanding of production scheduling and workflow management.

· Experience with Flexographic and Digital printing processes preferred.

· Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis capabilities.

· Ability to analyze production metrics and make data-driven decisions.

· Excellent communication and leadership skills.

· Strong employee development and coaching abilities.

· Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and operational excellence initiatives.

· Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications.

Working Conditions:

· This position requires time spent in both office and manufacturing floor environments.

· Occasional travel may be required for vendor visits, customer visits, conferences, or training.
