About Alto Software Group

Alto Software Group is a B2B SaaS company that powers more than half of all UK housing transactions each year. We create software solutions that connect businesses and consumers, delivering a one-stop shop for estate agents and home builders. Our goal is to drive efficiency, speed up transactions, reduce risk, and improve the end-customer experience. While we’re not a start-up, we have a start-up mindset and want our people to operate with this mindset so that we can achieve our ambitions.

The Role

We’re looking for a proactive, automation-first Digital Workplace Platform Engineer to join our team. This is a high-impact role responsible for the design, security, and continuous improvement of our group’s core enterprise infrastructure and endpoint fleet. Operating in a "best of both worlds" environment utilizing Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, macOS and Windows, you will act as a key technical authority. You will bridge the gap between complex cloud infrastructure and end-user productivity, ensuring that our technical framework supports all users seamlessly and securely.

What You’ll Do

  • Engineering & architecture: You will own the design, configuration and maintenance of our enterprise cloud platforms.
  • Automated lifecycle management: You will remove manual work by building modern provisioning workflows, such as zero-touch deployment, and by scripting away repetitive tasks.
  • Identity & access: You will manage and secure user identities and groups across Active Directory/Entra ID, Google and LDAP, so that joiners, movers and leavers move through without friction.
  • Tenant & platform migrations: You will lead and deliver tenant-to-tenant migrations, specifically Google Workspace to Google Workspace and Entra ID to Entra ID consolidations and restructures.
  • Security & vulnerability remediation: You will work closely with the Security team to enforce OS and cloud security baselines, manage disk encryption, deploy endpoint protection and triage vulnerabilities.
  • Tier-3 escalation: You will be the final escalation point for the EUC and Platforms teams, resolving the most complex infrastructure and operating system failures.
  • Governance & tech lifecycle: You will oversee technology from budgeting and procurement through to secure decommissioning. You’ll also set infrastructure roadmaps and manage vendor SLAs.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & education: You will keep technical baseline documentation sharp, mentor the wider Digital Workplace team and lead training for everyone from new starters to the C-suite.

What You Need to Be Successful

  • Hands-on experience planning and delivering tenant-to-tenant migrations, or highly coupled integrated estates, across both Google Workspace and Entra ID.
  • Expert-level configuration management for macOS and Windows.
  • Experience scaling enterprise endpoint management through Microsoft Intune, Apple Business Manager and corporate identity providers (Entra ID, Google).
  • Strong knowledge of virtualisation and cloud technology deployment.
  • A track record of managing complex incidents through multi-service ticketing platforms (we use Freshservice) while holding to internal SLAs.
  • An automation-first approach: you use scripting and tooling to standardise operations, enforce security baselines and cut out repetitive work.
  • You’re comfortable acting as a technical authority and working without supervision. You can balance long-term roadmap planning with urgent escalations and bring cross-functional teams into technical alignment.
  • Excellent communication skills. You can turn complex infrastructure plans into clear, friendly updates for non-technical colleagues and leadership.

There’s always room to grow and learn with our roles — please don’t be put off if you don’t have all of these. It’s more important that you’re passionate about improving the home moving and owning experience for everyone.

Tools & Platforms

  • Google Workspace and Microsoft 365
  • Entra ID / Active Directory, Google identity, LDAP
  • Microsoft Intune and Apple Business Manager
  • macOS and Windows
  • Freshservice
  • Slack, Zoom, Jira, Gemini and Claude (familiarity)

Why Join Alto?

You’ll have full ownership of a large, modern technology stack at a time when we’re actively consolidating and modernising it. Your job goes beyond maintaining systems: you’ll design a more secure, automated and resilient digital workplace, and you’ll have the autonomy and team support to make real changes from day one.

Benefits

  • Everyday Flex — Greater flexibility over where and when you work
  • 25 days annual leave + extra days for years of service

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
