About The Role

What skills will we need in the future? And how can we plan now to make sure we have the people and skills we need?

As our Future Talent & Planning Specialist, you’ll help us answer those questions.

You’ll join our Talent & Development team and work across the Society to understand our future workforce needs and turn that insight into practical plans. You’ll look at where we are today, where we need to be in the future and what we need to do to get there.

You’ll use workforce planning, labour market insight and future skills trends to understand where our workforce is today, where we need it to be in the future and what skills and capabilities we’ll need to get there. You’ll identify gaps and develop practical plans to address them, working with teams to build, develop or attract the talent we’ll need.

This could mean developing future talent pipelines, creating new career pathways, strengthening early careers opportunities or identifying ways to develop skills from within. You’ll help us think beyond immediate recruitment needs and plan for the workforce we’ll need in the years ahead.

You’ll also have the opportunity to build partnerships with education providers, employability organisations and community groups. Together, you’ll help create meaningful routes into work and make careers at Alzheimer’s Society more accessible.

Could you help us understand where our future workforce needs will come from, what skills we’ll need and how we can create opportunities for people to build those skills and careers with Alzheimer’s Society?

Interviews are provisionally scheduled to take place on the 23rd & 24th November via MS Teams.

What you’ll do

You’ll help shape our approach to future talent and workforce planning, bringing together workforce insight, future skills, career development and inclusive routes into work.

You’ll:

  • Develop future workforce and talent plans that connect our longer-term workforce needs with practical actions to build, develop and attract the skills we’ll need.
  • Work with leaders, managers and People colleagues to understand current and future workforce requirements, identify skills and capability gaps and develop plans to address them.
  • Use workforce data, labour market insight and emerging skills trends to identify future opportunities, risks and areas where we need to plan ahead.
  • Translate workforce planning insight into practical talent and development activity, such as career pathways, early careers opportunities, internships, work experience and employability programmes.
  • Identify opportunities to build skills from within the Society, supporting internal mobility, career development and progression.
  • Build partnerships with education providers, community groups and employability organisations to create new and accessible routes into work.
  • Develop clear resources and guidance to help colleagues understand career pathways, progression and development opportunities.
  • Monitor and evaluate future talent activity, using measures such as progression, retention, inclusion and internal mobility to understand what is working and where we may need to adapt.
  • Identify and help remove barriers that can make it harder for people to access, develop and progress within the Society.

About you

Are you interested in what the future of work could look like and how organisations can plan for the skills they’ll need? Do you enjoy using insight to understand future workforce needs and turning that into practical plans and opportunities for people?

You’ll have experience of workforce planning and understand how it can help an organisation prepare for future skills and capability needs. You’ll be able to look at current workforce data and future requirements, identify gaps and translate your findings into practical workforce and talent plans. You’ll also understand how talent development, career pathways and early careers activity can support those plans.

You’ll be comfortable working with workforce data and other sources of insight to identify trends, gaps and future requirements. You’ll be able to turn what you find into practical recommendations and plans, and work with different stakeholders to put those plans into action.

You might be a great fit for this role if you:

  • Have experience developing and delivering workforce planning, future talent, early careers, employability or talent development initiatives.
  • Can assess current and future workforce needs, identify skills or capability gaps and develop plans to address them.
  • Can use workforce data, labour market insight and emerging skills trends to inform planning and decision-making.
  • Understand how workforce planning, career pathways and talent development can work together to build future capability.
  • Enjoy building relationships and partnerships with people inside and outside an organisation.
  • Can manage projects and competing priorities while keeping sight of longer-term workforce needs and goals.
  • Are curious about future workforce trends, emerging skills, technology and AI, and the opportunities they could bring.
  • Care about inclusion and want to create fairer, more accessible routes into work and career progression.

Could you bring your workforce planning and future talent expertise to help us build the skills and talent we’ll need for the future?

If you’re motivated by creating opportunities, developing people and thinking ahead, we’d love to hear from you.

Please note, if you've previously applied for this role, we will not be able to consider your application again.

About You

About Alzheimer's Society

Dementia is the UK's biggest killer. One in three people born in the UK today will develop dementia in their lifetime.

At Alzheimer's Society, we're the UK's leading dementia charity and the only one to tackle all aspects of dementia by giving help and hope to people living with dementia today and in the future. We give vital support to people facing the most frightening times of their lives, while also funding groundbreaking research and campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be.

Together with our supporters, we're working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives.

Our values make sure that our focus is clear for the challenges and opportunities ahead and remind us of what we all stand for.

Our commitment to Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging

We need to ensure the voices around our table better reflect and understand the communities we exist to serve. We strongly encourage individuals to apply who have a disability, impairment or health condition or individuals who identify as Black, Asian or from another minority ethnic background, as these groups are currently under-represented at Alzheimer's Society.

We want everyone we work with, as a colleague, volunteer, supporter, or someone we support, to feel included and that they belong at Alzheimer's Society.

Our Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy here along with our internal employee forum and Employee Lived Experience network groups help us promote inclusion and belonging, becoming an engaged and inclusive organisation for all our people.

Our hiring process

During your recruitment process we want to make sure that you bring your whole self and can be at your best. We are working hard to ensure our recruitment process is as inclusive as possible, so please do inform us of your experience and anything you think we could do better by completing our candidate survey when you apply. Please also contact Alzheimer's Society Talent Acquisition Team via [email protected] for application support or any adjustments you might need.

To ensure fairness and consistency to select the best candidate for this role, all our applications are anonymised up until an interview has been confirmed. We recognise the benefits of AI, but if you're considering using it to submit your application, we encourage you to reflect on the value it truly adds. AI tools often lack the personal touch and authenticity that set candidates apart. We want to hear your unique perspective, experiences, and skills, so we encourage you to showcase them in your own voice.

We try to avoid closing roles early where possible, however if we receive a high volume of applications, we may close earlier than the advertised closing date. Should this occur, we will aim to provide you with at least 48 hours' notice.

We are committed to safer recruitment and ensuring the welfare of those we work with, due to the nature of some of our roles, we might need to carry out a Criminal Record Check at the relevant level. You can read more information via our Website.

Giving back to you

Our employees work hard every day to make a true difference in people's lives. We are proud to support them with a range of benefits, recognition and many options for working agilely, all contributing to a strong work life balance. We also have various learning programmes to support you in your development and help you grow to realise your potential and shape a career with Alzheimer's Society.

You can also visit our Working for Us pages, which give you more information about what it's like to be an employee at the Society.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
