The posting

Are you experienced in critical infrastructure commissioning and looking for a fast-paced, high-growth environment? As a Data Center Infrastructure Engineer on the Amazon Commissioning team, you will join a creative, efficient group tackling challenging problems as we build and operate Amazon-owned data centers at an accelerating pace. Our fleet is expanding rapidly, and we need skilled engineers who can verify that every power, cooling, and control system in a new facility works correctly before it serves production traffic. You will also get hands-on experience with new data center technologies as the team scales and our designs evolve.

You will support vendors, contractors, and internal teams involved in the construction and commissioning of data center systems including medium and low voltage power distribution, generators, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment, chilled water systems, building management systems (BMS), electrical power monitoring systems (EPMS), and hydronic systems. You will review engineering designs, check construction quality against customer requirements, and help deliver infrastructure that directly supports the availability and performance of AWS services used by millions of active customers worldwide.

Physical Requirements: - Walk job sites in uneven terrain - Work at heights and from ladders - Regularly walk, use hands and fingers, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl - Lift and move up to 49 pounds; participate in group lifts for 50 pounds or more - Carry objects weighing up to 49 pounds for short distances - Work shifts longer than eight hours in duration, with potential for night and weekend shifts - Perform physical tasks throughout the day without becoming overly tired - Manipulate small wires and objects easily - Work in noisy environments - Work in environments that are colder or hotter than a normal office environment

Additional Requirements: - Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally for up to 80% of the year - Required to provide personal transportation for meetings and job visits away from the office; mileage is reimbursed - U.S. citizenship required

Key job responsibilities - Review design documents and component submittal packages, then lead Factory Witness Testing (FWT) to confirm that equipment meets engineering specifications before it reaches the site. - Manage third-party commissioning vendors through onsite pre-functional, functional, and integrated systems testing, auditing activities for compliance with environmental, quality, and safety requirements. - Provide multi-discipline input into project scheduling, test script development, and commissioning planning while coordinating across engineering, capacity delivery, and operations teams to resolve technical issues quickly. - Compile status reports on all active projects and share lessons learned with peers to help improve commissioning processes and program quality over time. - Troubleshoot equipment and system-level issues during commissioning, identify root causes, and document corrective actions to make sure problems are fixed and do not come back.

A day in the life You will start your morning reviewing the commissioning schedule and aligning priorities with construction and operations partners. Throughout the day you will move between the site and your desk, witnessing tests on electrical switchgear or mechanical systems, checking vendor work against approved test scripts, and flagging issues that need resolution before turnover milestones. When a risk surfaces, you will coordinate with the right stakeholders to keep the project on track. After site activities wrap up, you will update project trackers and share findings so teammates on parallel builds can benefit from what you learned.

About the team The Amazon Commissioning team independently reviews and tests data center equipment designs, operational functionality, and construction practices. We make sure every facility we deliver meets strict quality and reliability standards while keeping full transparency with our partners. As our data center fleet grows at a rapid pace, the team is scaling to match and picking up new technologies along the way. This makes it a great time to join, build your technical expertise, and have a direct impact on how quickly and safely we bring new capacity online.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
