The posting

We are seeking a highly skilled MEP Design Engineer/Manager to lead full-lifecycle design and engineering for industrial, commercial, and mixed-use projects across Australia. The primary focus is Electrical Engineering and Design for Industrial Buildings, with a particular emphasis on large-scale warehouse, distribution centre, fulfilment centre, and logistics hub developments. The successful candidate will bring deep expertise in warehouse electrical systems, proven competency in Australian codes and standards including current Australian Standards and the NCC/BCA, strong design leadership, cross-disciplinary coordination capability, and a track record of delivering compliant, high-quality engineering documentation from concept through construction.

Key job responsibilities Electrical System Design — Primary Discipline All electrical designs to be prepared in full compliance with current Australian electrical wiring standards, NCC/BCA, and applicable state electrical safety legislation. • HV/MV Power Systems — Design high-voltage substations (11 kV/33 kV), zone reticulation networks, and transformer installations with appropriate redundancy. Carry out protection relay coordination and liaise directly with Distribution Network Service Providers (DNSPs) such as AusGrid, Energex, and SA Power Networks. • LV Distribution & Cable Design — Size and detail main switchboards, sub-main distribution boards, and motor control centres. Undertake cable sizing and derating calculations in accordance with applicable Australian electrical standards, ensuring voltage drop and fault level compliance throughout. • Load Analysis, MCC & Variable Speed Drives — Calculate maximum demand and design motor control centres including DOL, soft-starter, and VSD configurations. Perform load flow and harmonic analysis using industry tools such as ETAP or PowerFactory, with power factor correction to meet utility requirements. • Emergency & Standby Power — Design diesel generator sets, online UPS systems, and automatic transfer switching arrangements to meet essential services requirements under the NCC/BCA. Provide appropriate redundancy levels for critical process and life safety loads. • Lighting, Earthing & Hazardous Areas — Develop industrial lighting designs for warehouse, distribution centre, and fulfilment centre environments, including high-bay warehouse lighting layouts, aisle-by-aisle lux level calculations, racking interleaved luminaire placement, and emergency egress lighting. Incorporate DALI controls and NCC Section J energy compliance for large-footprint warehouse facilities. Design earthing and bonding systems and lightning protection installations. Classify hazardous areas and select explosion-protected equipment in accordance with relevant Australian standards for flammable atmospheres. • Warehouse Power Distribution & Energy Management — Design warehouse power distribution systems including dock leveller power supplies, conveyor and ASRS power feeds, forklift charging bays, EV charging infrastructure, and GPO layouts to suit operational workflows. Develop sub-metering strategies and NCC Section J energy compliance reports. Produce complete electrical deliverables including single-line diagrams, cable and panel schedules, design basis reports, commissioning plans, and as-built documentation.

Design Standards & Specifications Writing • Design Standards Authoring — Author and maintain electrical design standards, technical specifications, and engineering guidelines specifically for warehouse, distribution centre, fulfilment centre, and logistics hub projects, aligned with the NCC and current Australian Standards. Establish project-specific design basis documents that define system design parameters, equipment selection criteria, and installation requirements for warehouse electrical infrastructure. • Equipment & System Specifications — Prepare detailed electrical equipment specifications for switchboards, transformers, generators, UPS systems, lighting, and cable management systems for warehouse and logistics hub projects. Develop method of measurement and payment clauses, hold point inspection and test plans (ITPs), and commissioning procedures aligned with Australian construction and design certification requirements.

Secondary Disciplines — HVAC, Fire, Plumbing & ELV • HVAC — Design heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems including central plant, ductwork layouts, and BMS integration, ensuring compliance with NCC energy performance requirements. • Fire Protection — Design sprinkler systems, fire detection and alarm systems, hydrant networks, and emergency warning systems in compliance with the NCC and applicable Australian fire safety standards. • Plumbing & Hydraulics — Design water supply, drainage, stormwater, and trade waste systems in accordance with applicable Australian plumbing and drainage standards and the NCC Plumbing Code of Australia. Include on-site detention, grease traps, oil-water separators, and rainwater harvesting where required. • BMS, ELV & Smart Building Systems — Design BMS/IBMS architecture using open-protocol platforms, SCADA/HMI integration, and NABERS-aligned energy dashboards. Develop access control, IP CCTV, structured cabling, IoT, and cybersecurity solutions to meet building security and operational requirements. • BIM Coordination — Lead 3D clash detection and multi-discipline MEP coordination using Revit MEP, Navisworks, and BIM 360/ACC. Prepare bills of quantities, design basis reports, and authority submissions in accordance with Australian BIM information management requirements.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
