The posting

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a senior education industry leader to serve as the Head of Education Strategy for the Asia-Pacific and Japan (APJ) region. This role sits within the AWS Worldwide Public Sector (WWPS) organization as part of the Global Education team, responsible for accelerating cloud and AI adoption across educational and research institutions worldwide. The Head of Education Strategy will define how AWS engages with and is positioned among the most important education customers in APJ, will shape the narrative for university leaders, EdTech founders, ministry officials, and research institutions, and will drive revenue growth and long-term market development. This is a senior individual contributor who operates as a core member of the regional education leadership team. You will set the strategic direction for how AWS serves the education market in APJ, determine where to invest, which customer segments and accounts to prioritize, and what the growth story looks like across higher education, research, EdTech, and skilling. You will be the person that AGS and WWPS executives turn to for guidance on education customers, and the person that education leaders across the region recognize as AWS's most senior voice on the future of their sector.

Key job responsibilities - Own the regional education narrative and growth agenda - Define the strategic direction for education in APJ. Determine which customer segments, accounts, and technology areas represent the greatest growth opportunity. Set priorities and success metrics that guide how AGS, WWPS, and Global Education resources are deployed against the education market. - Be the trusted advisor to education CXOs across APJ. Frame the future of their institutions with them, connect their missions to what cloud and AI make possible, and position AWS as the strategic partner for education transformation. - Set regional education priorities and marshal resources across research, market acceleration, and Go-To-Market teams to execute against them. - Raise the education IQ of the broader field organization. Ensure sellers and SAs understand the education market, know the use cases and case studies, and can engage education customers with credibility and depth. - Leverage and optimize the global partner ecosystem strategy, including ISV partnerships, channel partners, and strategic event presence — defining the partner framework, negotiating strategic agreements, and measuring partner-sourced pipeline contribution. - Establish organizational mechanisms including operational cadences, and feedback loops that drive continuous improvement, measure effectiveness at scale, and inform leadership decisions on investment and strategy. - Mentor and develop business development and technical sales talent, raising the bar on team capabilities and establishing best practices that elevate the function. - Orchestrate multi-institutional forums and thought leadership engagements that position AWS as the strategic partner for education transformation. - Represent AWS Global Education at premier education events and industry conferences as a credible advocate for cloud and AI innovation. - Develop the use cases, reference examples, and regional playbooks that help sellers articulate AWS's value to education customers, spanning migration, AI adoption, and emerging technology areas including quantum. - Develop and document differentiated GenAI use cases: AI-powered research acceleration, adaptive learning systems, institutional intelligence, and responsible AI frameworks. - Co-create GenAI implementations with lighthouse institutions that serve as regional reference examples. - Use signals from the field to inform strategic decisions on where education is heading in APJ, where AWS is winning or losing, and what needs to change. - Establish feedback loops and mechanisms to measure effectiveness, capture lessons learned, and continuously refine approaches based on real-world results. - Optimize resource deployment to maximize impact while balancing immediate field needs with long-term market development.

- 12+ years of technology related sales, business development or equivalent experience - 13+ years of spearheading strategic cross-functional initiatives that deliver measurable financial results and advance organizational objectives experience - Experience influencing at all levels within an organization, particularly at the executive level - degree in advanced technology, or 5+ years of cloud architecture and solution implementation experience

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
