The posting

Amazon’s Device Services & Operations organization is seeking a dynamic, results-oriented leader to manage the Device Management Team (DMT) — the team responsible for the complete prototype device lifecycle across all Amazon consumer device families. This is a high-impact, high-visibility operations leadership role that sits at the intersection of hardware development, supply chain logistics, and cross-functional program execution within one of the world’s most innovative consumer electronics organizations.

As DMT Manager, you will lead a globally distributed team of approximately 10 team members spanning three sites: Seattle (primary), Munich, and Chennai. Your team owns the end-to-end prototype device lifecycle — from procurement and inbound logistics through inventory management, allocation and distribution, beta program support, and device destruction. This lifecycle touches every Amazon device family, including Alexa, Fire TV, Tablet, Kindle E-reader, Ring, Blink, Eero, Leo (Project Kuiper), V-Care, and Smart Home products. The breadth of product lines and the global nature of operations create a uniquely challenging and rewarding management opportunity.

You will be responsible for managing a diverse team that includes Program Managers, Device Associates, and Administrative Support staff operating across multiple time zones (Pacific, Central European, and India Standard Time). Your direct reports include operations leads in each geography, a PVT Procurement and Budget lead, an Inbound Lead, Outbound Leads in both Seattle and Munich, and specialized roles in device flashing and customer returns. You will need to develop strong deputies in each location to ensure operational continuity during non-overlapping business hours, while fostering a cohesive team culture that transcends geographic boundaries.

The role carries significant stakeholder management responsibilities. You will interface regularly with product teams across Alexa, Fire TV, Ring/Blink, Tablet, E-reader, Leo, V-Care, and Smart Home — each with distinct working styles, escalation tendencies, and volume profiles. Beta program coordination is the most complex and escalation-prone workstream, requiring careful negotiation between product team timelines and DMT operational capacity. Allocations represent the highest throughput function, and managing competing priorities across product lines during peak season (typically April through September) demands sophisticated prioritization skills and the confidence to push back when necessary.

Operational reporting is a core element of this role. You will own the Weekly Business Review (WBR) cadence, ensuring timely and accurate reporting of operational metrics every Wednesday. You will also maintain a regular weekly reporting cadence with senior leadership. The ability to synthesize complex operational data into clear, actionable narratives for director-level and VP-level audiences is essential.

This role also includes ownership of several high-priority strategic initiatives. You will drive the DBS (Device Build System) integration — a platform dependency that underpins three of the team’s annual goals: increasing operations capacity, increasing PM capacity through global functional consolidation, and improving quality by reducing defects per thousand opportunities (DPTO). You will also oversee a VP-directed initiative to reduce PVT device ordering volumes and champion the KFlex integration pilot to modernize the team’s tooling and workflow automation.

Perhaps most critically, this role requires a people-first leader who can build team morale. The team is currently under significant workload pressure, and team members have historically struggled to set boundaries with stakeholders. You must create a culture where it is safe to push back, establish clear prioritization frameworks, and visibly advocate upward for headcount relief and process improvements. Protecting the team from unreasonable demands — while maintaining strong partnerships with product teams — is the defining leadership challenge of this position.

The ideal candidate brings experience managing geographically distributed operations teams in a fast-paced hardware or technology environment. You should be comfortable with ambiguity, skilled at managing competing priorities under resource constraints, and energized by the challenge of optimizing prototype logistics at global scale. Familiarity with device lifecycle management, prototype operations, or consumer electronics supply chain is strongly preferred.

Key job responsibilities Lead and develop a globally distributed team of ~10 across Seattle, Munich, and Chennai, fostering a collaborative, resilient culture despite timezone challenges and high operational tempo.

Own the end-to-end prototype device lifecycle — procurement, inbound logistics, inventory management, allocation/distribution, beta program support, and destruction — across all Amazon device families.

Manage escalations and competing priorities across multiple product teams (Alexa, Fire TV, Ring/Blink, Tablet, Leo, and others), balancing urgency against team capacity with data-driven prioritization.

Drive the Weekly Business Review (WBR) process: ensure accurate, timely operational data and narrative reporting for director and VP-level leadership.

Own and advance strategic initiatives including DBS integration, KFlex pilot, global PM functional consolidation, and VP-directed PVT device ordering reduction.

Build capacity plans and workload models to anticipate peak-season surges (April–September) and advocate for staffing adjustments when operational demand exceeds capacity.

Coach team members on stakeholder management, process optimization, and career development — particularly strengthening the team’s ability to set boundaries and push back constructively on unreasonable timelines.

Establish and maintain strong cross-functional partnerships with product, engineering, logistics, and security teams while protecting the team from scope creep and last-minute demand spikes.

Champion continuous improvement by identifying automation opportunities, documenting tribal knowledge into SOPs, and cross-training team members to reduce single-points-of-failure.

A day in the life Your morning starts early — often by 6:30 AM PT when you are online for overlap with Munich and Chennai, reviewing overnight deployment updates and triaging any escalations that came in across time zones. By 8:00 AM you are leading the global team sync (Tuesdays) or reviewing WBR data (Wednesdays), ensuring operational metrics are accurate before they reach senior leadership.

Mid-morning shifts to stakeholder engagement: a product team has moved up an in-hand date for a beta deployment, another needs expedited allocations for a launch milestone. You negotiate trade-offs, re-sequence the queue, and coach your team on when to absorb the request and when to push back. The afternoon brings 1:1s with your reports, where you discuss career growth alongside operational blockers. Between meetings, you check on the KFlex pilot, review a hire requisition for a critical backfill, and Slack your manager a status update. No two days are identical — but the pace is always high.

About the team The Device Management Team (DMT) operates within the Beta organization under Amazon’s DevicesTech division. DMT is the operational backbone of prototype device management — every device that moves through the pre-launch pipeline passes through this team’s hands.

With team members across Seattle, Munich, and Chennai, DMT supports all Amazon device families including Alexa, Fire TV, Kindle, Ring, Blink, Eero, and emerging programs like Project Kuiper (Leo). The team prides itself on a collaborative, roll-up-your-sleeves culture where everyone supports each other across functions and geographies. It is a team that consistently delivers under pressure and takes genuine pride in its work — and it deserves a leader who will invest in its people as much as its processes.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
