The posting

Are you energized by leading teams that tackle complex, ambiguous technical challenges? Do you thrive when coordinating across multiple engineering and product teams to deliver programs that matter? We're looking for a Technical Program Management leader to manage a team of technical program managers and drive the execution of large-scale, cross-functional programs at Amazon. In this role, you'll define strategy, set goals, and guide your team through the full software development lifecycle — from planning through release. You'll shape how your team operates, establish workflows and service-level agreements, and build mechanisms that ensure consistent, measurable results. Your ability to navigate ambiguity, negotiate priorities, and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels will be key to your success.

Key job responsibilities - Lead and manage a team of technical program managers, providing tactical and strategic direction while building a high-performing, inclusive team culture that empowers members to deliver independently. - Drive execution of cross-functional technical programs from planning through release, defining scope, timelines, milestones, and success criteria across engineering, product, and operations teams. - Identify and mitigate program risks, manage complex escalations, and make informed trade-offs between short-term delivery needs and long-term strategic goals. - Build and scale audit mechanisms, metrics, and reporting to track team progress, operational performance, and customer outcomes — communicating results clearly to leadership and key stakeholders. - Evaluate and integrate generative AI tools and processes where appropriate to improve program efficiency, while establishing process improvements that reduce repeated work and simplify delivery.

A day in the life You might start your morning reviewing program status updates and preparing a narrative for an upcoming leadership review. By mid-morning, you're in a working session with engineers and product managers, unblocking a cross-team dependency and aligning on revised milestones. After lunch, you hold a one-on-one with a direct report, coaching them through a stakeholder challenge and discussing their career development goals. Later, you collaborate with partner teams to negotiate resource priorities for the quarter ahead, then close out the day refining your team's operational metrics dashboard.

About the team Our team is focused on delivering technical programs that have a meaningful impact on customers and the broader Amazon ecosystem. We operate in a collaborative environment where program managers partner closely with engineering, product, and science teams to solve complex problems at scale. We are building toward a future where our programs run with greater efficiency and clarity, and we are looking for a leader who is excited to shape that vision. If you want to grow an inclusive team, drive operational improvements, and influence how Amazon delivers for customers, this is the role for you.

- 7+ years of people management experience - 7+ years of direct work with engineering teams experience - Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field - Experience in technical program management - Experience communicating across technical and non-technical audiences, including executive level stakeholders or clients

- Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules - Experience with Agile or other program management methodologies

Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers. Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
