The posting

Leo is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of over 3,000 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Leo will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.

The Leo team is looking for a Mission Manager with experience in launch vehicle and dispenser interface management; launch systems integration; mission management; project management; and program management for complex multi-manifest launches. The role will interface with cross-functional engineering and program/product management teams to manage launch campaigns, interface with launch vehicle and dispenser system providers, and interface with internal stakeholders delivering satellites to the launch site. Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Key job responsibilities Key job responsibilities • Plan efficient launch campaigns in a highly dynamic environment. • Manage a complex schedule developed with internal and external stakeholders. • Have technical proficiency with satellite integration. • Drive engineering project throughout launch campaigns, make technical trade-offs, track and report on status, and resolve blocking issues. • Oversee program plans for launch vehicle and dispenser system providers. • Lead launch integration activities at the payload processing facility / launch site. • Collaborate with payload processing facility stakeholders and drive requirements to closure. • Collaborate with internal stakeholders responsible for delivering satellites to the launch site and satellite handling during integration activities. • Collaborate with procurement, legal/regulatory and export control for contracts management, import/export, and related regulatory compliance. • Work with satellite subsystems product/program management to ensure that Range Safety compliance is met. • Fully competent in a variety of project management tools, methodologies and techniques for all phases of the project life-cycle and exhibit demonstrated proficiency in core project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, resources, quality and risk management, reporting and metric development/tracking.

A day in the life You will plan multiple launch missions a year. For each, you will be aligning launch dates with satellite production, coordinating resources to perform the launch campaign, verifying launch documentation is ready, and holding integration and launch readiness reviews. Daily work will be with the Production Operations Team in Redmond or the PPF in Florida. Work with a team of professional, experienced, space enthusiast Mission Managers to provide an efficient launch cadence to meet Leo launch rates. Collaboration with various teams in Leo is essential as we strive to innovate and make launch as routine as boarding a passenger flight.

- 3+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience - Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules - Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or an equivalent field - Experience communicating clearly and concisely with leadership, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams - Demonstrated strong ownership, urgency to drive projects to closure, and desire to learn in a dynamic environment - Experience with schedule tracking and Program Management tools such as SmartSheet, Jira, and Confluence. - Ability to pass Kennedy Space Center background checks - Ability to obtain and maintain a US Passport - Ability and willingness to comply with the Government of French Guiana which mandates that travelers receive vaccinations for yellow fever or applicable government exemption - With or without reasonable accommodations, must be able to lift up to 49 pounds on some occasions, stand/walk for up to 8-10 hours (with breaks), and able to frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach.

- Experience using English communication skills, both written and verbal, to foster seamless interaction with stakeholders at all levels - Master's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Astronautical Engineering. - Track record of executing complex, multi-manifest launch campaigns on time, to scope, with high quality. - Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills, with ability to work successfully across all engineering disciplines. - Independently driven, resourceful, and able to deliver results with minimal direction. - Experience interfacing with variety of launch and dispenser system providers, Range Safety officers and legal/export/regulatory compliance. Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical individuals.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
