The posting

AWS AI Services is seeking a Principal UX Designer to lead some of the most strategic and complex design initiatives across our AI/ML portfolio, including Amazon Bedrock and Amazon Bedrock AgentCore.

This is an individual contributor role for a designer who operates beyond the boundaries of a single product or feature area. You will tackle large-scale, highly ambiguous customer problems that span services, workflows, and organizations, establish experience vision and strategy where the path forward is not yet defined, and influence product direction across AWS AI Services.

This is a particularly exciting moment to work in this space. Generative AI and agents are changing not only what developers can build, but how software itself is built, evaluated, deployed, and operated. Many of the interaction models for these technologies are still emerging. You will have the opportunity to work on capabilities at the frontier of AI development and help define patterns that do not yet have established answers.

You will work at the intersection of AI platform strategy, developer experience, and emerging interaction models, translating sophisticated technical capabilities into experiences that help builders move from experimentation to production. You’ll partner with senior leaders across Product, Engineering, Applied Science, Research, and UX to identify systemic customer problems, create alignment around a future-state vision, and turn that vision into shipped experiences.

This is hands-on design role. You’ll move fluidly between strategy and execution, framing problems, conducting and using customer research, mapping complex systems and workflows, prototyping new interaction models, defining end-to-end experiences, and working directly with engineering teams to ship them.

Key job responsibilities Lead strategic, portfolio-level design initiatives. Take on some of the most consequential and ambiguous customer problems across Bedrock, AgentCore, and the broader AWS AI/ML portfolio. Many of these challenges will cross product and organizational boundaries, requiring you to see the larger system, define a clear experience vision, and bring multiple teams together around a path forward.

Define the future of AI developer experiences. Help shape how builders create, evaluate, deploy, govern, and operate generative AI applications and agents on AWS. In a space where many interaction patterns are still being invented, you’ll have the opportunity to establish new models for how developers work with AI and influence experiences that span the console, APIs, SDKs, and CLI.

Shape the technology, not just the interface. Great developer experiences often begin well below the UI. You’ll go deep into the architecture, APIs, data models, and developer workflows behind the products you design, working directly with senior engineers and technical leaders to make them more intuitive. That may mean influencing the structure of an API, challenging an abstraction that exposes too much underlying complexity, or rethinking terminology and defaults before they become difficult to change. You should be comfortable engaging Engineering at this level and advocating for a different technical solution when a technically valid one creates a poor customer experience.

Bring clarity to ambiguous problems. You’ll often begin with an emerging technology, an unmet customer need, or a broad strategic opportunity rather than a defined set of requirements. Use customer insight, systems thinking, prototyping, and strong product judgment to make the problem concrete, explore what is possible, and help teams converge on the right direction.

Set the quality bar through hands-on craft. This is a Principal role where you will continue to design and ship. Take on complex experiences yourself, explore alternatives and tradeoffs, prototype rapidly, validate ideas with customers, and carry the work from early concept through detailed execution. Move quickly while maintaining a high bar for interaction design, visual craft, and the details that make technical products easier to understand and use.

Create coherence across the portfolio. Look beyond individual products to identify where customers encounter fragmentation across AWS AI Services. Establish shared interaction models, frameworks, and patterns that solve those problems systematically and help Bedrock, AgentCore, and adjacent services feel like a connected builder experience.

Influence across organizational boundaries. Many of the problems you’ll own cannot be solved by one team. Build trusted relationships with senior leaders across Product, Engineering, Science, and UX, bring customer evidence and design thinking into strategic decisions, and create alignment when teams have different technical constraints, priorities, or points of view.

Raise the design bar beyond your own work. Your impact as a Principal designer should extend beyond the experiences you personally ship. Provide thoughtful critique and direction, develop approaches that other teams can reuse, mentor designers tackling complex technical problems, and help elevate the quality of design across the broader organization.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
