The posting

Amazon's Global Environmental Assurance and Protection team works to make Amazon the global benchmark for environmental excellence across our operations. As the NA Air/Energy Program Manager, you own the lifecycle of Amazon's most complex air and energy compliance programs across North America and turn an ambiguous, fast-moving regulatory landscape into program frameworks the field can execute. That scope covers air quality and emissions compliance, air permitting and greenhouse gas reporting, energy management and efficiency, and emerging air and energy regulatory obligations across North America. You take partially defined business problems and regulatory requirements and build them into structured programs with clear objectives, milestones, and success criteria, owning each program through its pilot and scaled rollout.

As an individual contributor, you own the strategic definition and lifecycle management of these air and energy programs. You break ambiguous challenges into program plans that account for real field constraints, define what "done" looks like, and design the systems, processes, and tools, with measurement built in, that the field organization adopts and sustains on its own. You partner with legal, regulatory affairs, operations, technology, and procurement to keep programs aligned with the operating model, and you contribute to internal operations planning while owning goals within the NA air and energy program portfolio.

You identify and influence cross-functional investments that solve long-term air and energy compliance requirements, negotiating resources, priorities, and timelines across organizations. You build business cases with quantified risk and return, present them to director and vice-president audiences, and represent EAP in cross-functional planning forums so that air and energy compliance requirements are built into business decisions. You own the program governance, business reviews, escalation paths, and metric dashboards that surface risk and drive accountability in real time, and you stand in for the senior manager independently in business reviews and cross-functional forums with full ownership.

This role requires independent judgment, a high tolerance for ambiguity, and the ability to find a path forward where solutions are not predefined, driving cross-functional alignment without pushing decisions upward. You communicate technical compliance requirements clearly to executive, operational, and legal audiences, and you use data and business intelligence to look around corners, spotting and mitigating risk before it surfaces. If you are motivated by solving complex regulatory problems at scale and building the compliance infrastructure to match, this role is for you.

Key job responsibilities - Translate the compliance vision into functional programs. Integrate them into annual and multi-year planning and shape the budgets that fund them, weighing near-term compliance needs against long-term infrastructure investment. - Work independently in an ambiguous, high-stakes regulatory environment, finding paths forward where no solution is predefined and driving alignment without pushing decisions upward. - Own compliance programs end to end, taking problem definitions through pilot to full rollout, and build the resulting standards into daily operations so field teams sustain them on their own. - Build the metrics and review system that holds the program accountable, covering KPIs, business reviews, escalation paths, and dashboards that give leaders real-time visibility into performance, milestones, and regulatory standing. - Report program status, risks, and escalations clearly to director and vice-president audiences across operations, legal, finance, and technology, and stand in for the senior manager in business reviews and cross-functional forums. - Oversee third-party contractors, consultants, and inspection vendors, holding them to program milestones and quality standards through structured audits. - Travel up to 25 to 50% of the time.

- 6+ years of compliance, audit or risk management experience - 5+ years of program or project Management experience - Experience owning program strategy, end-to-end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership - Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) or related field

- Experience in regulatory compliance management with government agencies - Master's degree in environmental engineering, chemical engineering, atmospheric or air quality science, energy systems, or a related field - Experience developing and implementing air and energy compliance programs, for example Title V and minor source air permitting, greenhouse gas reporting, emissions inventories, refrigerant management, and energy or utility compliance, in accordance with applicable laws - Professional credential where applicable, for example a Professional Engineer (PE), a Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP), a Certified Energy Manager (CEM), or an equivalent professional environmental certification - Experience with ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 management system design, implementation, or certification

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
