The posting

AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS's services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you'll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (IoT), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS.

EC2 Networking is one of the foundational services that enabled customers to move to the cloud. We manage the traffic flowing through one of the largest networks in the industry, handling billions of requests. VPC Lattice is how we are re-inventing application networking — giving customers a fully managed way to connect, secure, and observe services across accounts and VPCs without the undifferentiated heavy lifting of building their own networking layer.

We are seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer to help scale the next generation of our networking architecture and control plane. As Lattice adoption accelerates, the hard problems are increasingly about scale, elasticity, and reliability: how the control plane provisions and propagates configuration across tens of thousands of endpoints, how it stays consistent and fast as the fleet grows by orders of magnitude, and how we evolve the data path without disrupting live customer traffic. This is a senior role for an engineer who wants to own ambiguous, large-scale technical problems end to end and raise the bar for the engineers and teams around them.

A successful candidate is a technical leader who can decompose a hard, loosely-defined problem into a sequence of deliverable milestones, drive the design across team and service boundaries, and bring other engineers along. You are comfortable going deep on distributed-systems fundamentals — consistency, throughput, failure modes, operational safety — and equally comfortable zooming out to influence multi-year architecture. You raise the operational and quality bar for the whole team, not just your own code.

Key job responsibilities Own the architecture and implementation of control-plane-scaling systems that keep VPC Lattice fast, consistent, and reliable as the fleet grows by orders of magnitude. Lead the design of ambiguous, large-scale technical problems end to end — from a loosely-defined goal to a sequence of shippable milestones with clear tradeoffs documented. Drive technical decisions that span team and service boundaries, building alignment with partner teams across EC2 Networking, PrivateLink, and the broader UC organization. Set and enforce the bar for operational excellence — observability, failure isolation, safe deployment, and the ability to evolve the data path without disrupting live customer traffic. Identify and remove whole classes of operational and scaling risk rather than one-off defects, and leave the team's software measurably better and easier to maintain. Mentor and grow engineers on the team: raise the quality of designs and reviews, develop others' judgment on distributed-systems tradeoffs, and multiply your impact through the people around you. Invent on customers' behalf, turning high-demand internal and external requirements into durable, well-engineered capabilities.

About the team We are scaling the next generation of VPC Lattice and PrivateLink — a very successful, fast-growing product with a strong multi-year vision, a great team, and genuinely interesting distributed-systems and networking problems to solve. The work unlocks features in high demand from both internal and external customers while hardening the control plane for the scale that growth demands. Please reach out to me (Ehren Graber) for more information, or click Request Informational through the posted job. Thank you!

- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience - Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
