The posting

We are looking for a highly motivated, customer-focused UX Designer to build engaging shopping experiences that help hundreds of millions of emerging customers discover promotions, unlock savings, and get more value every time they shop. This is an exciting opportunity for builders and makers who thrive in ambiguity and love solving complex problems at massive scale. In this role, you will be responsible for leading design initiatives that help customers build bigger baskets, discover what more to consider, and find the best deals—all while making the shopping journey feel rewarding and fun. You'll gamify the shopping experience, design intuitive promotion discovery flows, and create delightful moments that drive customer engagement and savings. You'll work alongside product management, engineering, UX research, and UX writing to define and build essential, lovable products. This position requires deep customer focus, the ability to dive deep and invent, and the ability to make hard decisions fast. To be successful, you need to be highly motivated and detail-oriented while demonstrating the highest standards.

You are an experienced designer with deep experience in e-commerce, consumer tech, or mobile-first environments. You have a knack for making complex shopping decisions feel simple and rewarding. You are an organized self-starter who can deal with ambiguity and are always on the lookout for ways to help customers save more and shop smarter. You are an excellent collaborator and have no problem presenting—and defending—your ideas to other designers, product managers, and company leaders. You understand the value of user testing and prototyping and thrive in a fast-paced, startup-like environment. Above all, you are passionate about solving real problems for real people through research, design, and iteration.

In this role, you will work with other members of the design and product teams to create experiences that are easy to use, meaningful, and aesthetically pleasing to the customer—helping them discover promotions, understand their savings, and feel motivated to explore more. You will use market analysis, customer feedback, site metrics, and usability findings to tailor your designs to the customer and best solve their problems. You will be responsible for developing your ideas from concept to completion, presenting them to stakeholders for approval, and working directly with developers to bring them to life.

Key job responsibilities - Craft the vision for how customers discover promotions, unlock savings, and build bigger baskets - Design gamified shopping experiences that make finding deals, exploring recommendations, and maximizing value feel rewarding and engaging - Produce user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and user interface specifications for promotion discovery, basket building, and savings experiences - Design intuitive frameworks for surfacing recommendations—helping customers understand what more to consider and how to get more value from every purchase - Lead design explorations for innovative shopping paradigms including Gen-AI powered value discovery and dynamic, personalized savings experiences - Initiate and manage user experience research and testing processes to validate promotion discovery flows, gamification mechanics, and basket building concepts - Conduct analyses of real usage data (conversion, basket size, savings metrics) to inform user experience optimization efforts - Drive the development and communication of visual design guidelines and patterns for value and promotions experiences - Partner closely with the product management team to develop a shared vision and lead the process to define the experience and design that delivers on product objectives - Partner with the technology team to ensure we leverage the scale offered by our platform without compromising on core experiential principles - Mentor junior designers and contribute to a culture of design excellence

About the team International Emerging Stores (IES), within the larger Amazon International Stores organization, is responsible for representing the needs of emerging market customers to the broader Amazon ecosystem. These differences require us to approach solutions differently—often innovating from the ground up and building specific product-tech capabilities and playbooks that lift all boats across emerging markets.

- 7+ years of design experience - Knowledge of best practices for information architecture and design - Experience defining and maintaining design patterns and UX standards - Experience working with stakeholders to plan and execute programs that are strategic in nature - Experience acquiring user data (e.g., conducting usability studies, performing user research) and creating personas and journey maps - Experience designing and prototyping with tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Cloud, or similar

- Have an online portfolio or samples of work on resume, demonstrating experience creating great end-to-end, user-centered design solutions and patterns, across desktop and mobile devices - Experience designing customer facing retail products - Experience in delivering design solutions for projects of large scope and complexity

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
