The posting

At Audible, we believe stories have the power to transform lives. It’s why we work with some of the world’s leading creators to produce and share audio storytelling with our millions of global listeners. We are dreamers and inventors who come from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences to empower and inspire each other. Imagine your future with us.

ABOUT THIS ROLE As a Software Development Engineer, it’s up to you to define, design and refine the tech that keeps us one step ahead of listeners. Anticipate. Innovate. Bring challenging ideas and we’ll support you with the latest tech, tools and systems that you need to succeed. You’ll be essential in ensuring the team can reach their potential; working closely with them, reviewing their work, mentoring, and supporting them to develop. Together, you’ll build and maintain our platform to bring thousands of stories to millions of listeners and unleash the power of the human voice.

ABOUT THE TEAM Audible's Catalog Management Systems (CMS) team owns the source for all Audible product catalog data. We build the systems that ingest content from publishers, augment and validate it, and publish it to the storefronts and partners where customers discover and access it. Our work spans the full catalog lifecycle, from ONIX and other provider feeds through ingestion and metadata services to pricing, availability, and publishing. A few beliefs guide how we work. Content is Audible's lifeblood, so we keep it flowing smoothly and rapidly, letting customers find and access what they want when they want it. We automate internal processes wherever we can, and involve people when their judgment is needed. We treat content providers as our customers, advocating for them and building tools that improve their experience. And we hold our systems to a clear standard: transparent, easy to learn and use, flexible as business needs change, and scalable as Audible grows. Organized into groups covering ingestion, publishing, operator tooling, and post-publish refinement, we partner closely with product and downstream teams across Audible to support new products and market expansion.

ABOUT YOU You are talented, adaptable, and flexible. We’re looking for creative, open-minded Software Development Engineers to help build technologies that continuously improve the Audible listening experience. While focusing on iOS development you’ll build and scale mobile software, and coordinate cross-functionally by integrating new features, maintaining high performance, and creating intuitive interfaces. Our team is working on building native iOS products, without compromising compatibility with various iOS devices in an agile environment. Your primary focus is iOS, and we like for engineers to grow into full-stack work over time. Backend experience isn’t required—just a willingness to learn and contribute across the stack.

As a Software Development Engineer, you will... - Develop, test, and maintain software components and applications for the world's largest audiobook creator and provider - Identify and resolve software defects through code review, log analysis, metrics examination, debugging, and other troubleshooting methods - Write maintainable and scalable code for software components as part of an agile engineering team - Collaborate with stakeholders to envision, design, develop, test, and launch customer-centric software that inspires and impacts users - Apply computer science, engineering, and analysis principles to solve moderate-scale problems - Continuously enhance testability, operational excellence (OE), and documentation for owned software components - Handle data classification, storage, and management in accordance with company policies - Participate in the interview process and provide mentorship to fellow engineers

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
