We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

Ever wonder how it feels to have hundreds of thousands of users counting on you to keep Amazon secure without slowing anyone down? Amazon Security's Access Review team is the group for you! We own the systems 250,000+ Amazonians use to review and right-size the access they hold across Teams, Bindles, Hostclasses, and Permission Groups. We sit at the intersection of security, compliance, and developer productivity, connected to nearly every part of Amazon's worldwide service-oriented architecture. Whether you're passionate about building highly scalable and reliable systems in the cloud, or you're a software developer who likes to solve interesting and complex business problems, Access Review is the place for you.

Our mission is to enforce industry-leading least privilege at Amazon scale: every person and service should have exactly the access they need, and nothing more. We are looking for a Software Development Engineer to design and build large-scale, high-impact Access Management systems with company-wide reach, and to help lead the next chapter of that mission, applying AI and machine learning to the hardest problem in the space, determining the right level of least-privilege access automatically. You will build the intelligence that surfaces unused and excessive permissions, recommends precise access decisions, and continuously drives the fleet toward least privilege with minimal human toil. There is ample opportunity to innovate and deliver outcomes that measurably reduce Amazon's security risk.

You will collaborate with the leadership team to drive key engineering and business decisions that shape the access experience for the entire Amazon developer community. You will contribute to all parts of the software development and deployment lifecycle across multiple products, including design, implementation, documentation, testing, deployment, and operations.

Successful candidates for this position will have strong software engineering fundamentals such as object-oriented design, algorithms, data structures, and a good grasp of advanced systems concepts and design. Experience applying AI/ML to real-world problems is a plus, but not required, we'll help you grow into it. They must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, be self-driven, and consistently deliver high-quality results. They need to really enjoy working closely with their peers within a group of very talented engineers and builders.

This position involves on-call responsibilities. We don't like getting paged in the middle of the night or on the weekend, so we work to ensure that our systems are fault tolerant. When we do get paged, we work together to resolve the root cause so that we don't get paged for the same issue twice. Come build with us!

A day in the life Our team is responsible for building and maintaining multiple services that are critical for access management across Amazon. You'll work with your teammates, peers in our organization, stakeholders and customers from all around the company to define the access management experience.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
