We're looking for an experienced software engineer to join a high impact high visibility team on the Amazon website. This is an opportunity to work with a team that drives one of the most coveted real estate in the E-commerce, the Amazon 'Featured Offer' on Amazon Product Detail Page, Amazon Search Page, multiple buying widgets etc. on the Amazon desktop, mobile and tablet environments.

The Featured Merchant Algorithm (FMA) team's vision is to simplify Amazon shopping experience by helping customers more easily discover and evaluate product offers to find the right option for their shopping journey. We use ML and contextual information to rank and feature the most relevant offers to customers. Our services serve hundreds of millions of Amazon customers and handle millions of requests per second for hundreds of millions of products and billions of offers.

You will spend your time as a hands-on engineer and a technical leader and play a key role in building software products and features from the ground up. Your responsibilities include all aspects of software development. You will lead the design, implementation, and delivery of software in a complex problem space. You will collaborate with Senior and Principal engineers to solve ambiguous problems and evolve the architecture of our products. You will mentor junior engineers and deliver through them. You will work with teams that use ML to recommend product offers and you will have the opportunity to influence their vision and technical strategies. You will be given the freedom and inspiration to explore your own ideas and the reward of seeing your contributions benefit millions of Amazon.com customers worldwide.

Key job responsibilities • Own and deliver software features across the full development lifecycle — design, code, test, deploy, and maintain • Design solutions for complex problems, making effective tradeoffs between new features and operational work • Ensure operational excellence by identifying and resolving root causes of issues proactively • Actively participate in code reviews, providing meaningful feedback to peers and senior engineers • Collaborate with customers, stakeholders, and peers to deliver the right solutions • Document software systems and train new team members on team processes and architecture • Mentor junior engineers and drive improvements that enhance software quality and customer experience

A day in the life • Coding and design — Writing, reviewing, and iterating on code for features or improvements • Stand-ups and team meetings — Syncing with the team on progress, blockers, and priorities • Code reviews — Reviewing peers' code and receiving feedback on their own • Operational support — Monitoring systems and resolving production issues • Collaboration — Working with stakeholders, Product Managers, and other engineers on requirements and tradeoffs • Documentation — Updating design docs, runbooks, or onboarding materials • Mentorship — Helping junior engineers with technical guidance

- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience - 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience - Experience programming with at least one software programming language

- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience - Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.

What if my background isn't good enough?

We make the most of the background you have. The CV uses every piece of relevant proof your profile holds, and one of the 25 readers reads your whole profile and flags what the CV left out.

Do you really apply for me?

Yes, on the employer's own form, the hardest ones included. Where a question needs you, you answer it right there and AI suggests the best answer. Don't want us applying from our IP addresses? Use our Chrome extension: we apply straight from your own browser.
