The posting

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is the world’s most comprehensive and broadly adopted cloud. Millions of customers—including the fastest-growing startups, largest enterprises, and leading government agencies—use AWS to be more agile, lower costs, and innovate faster.

Amazon ElastiCache and Amazon MemoryDB power some of the most latency-sensitive applications on the internet, delivering microsecond performance, high availability and security at any scale, for workloads from caching and session stores to real-time analytics and AI agent memory. How customers experience these services matters as much as how they perform. Today, developers meet ElastiCache through the AWS Console, client libraries, IDEs, AI coding agents and platforms like Vercel, and they rely on rich observability to understand and tune their workloads. We are constantly raising the bar on that experience across the customer journey, from first setup through building, operating and scaling their applications on AWS.

As part of this role, you will lead a 2-pizza team that owns the developer experience and observability charter for Amazon ElastiCache and Amazon MemoryDB. You will work closely with a talented team of engineers, product managers and UX designers to build delightful experiences for hundreds of thousands of AWS customers.

Developer experience - Developers increasingly discover, build on and operate AWS services through AI agents rather than consoles and documentation alone. You will lead our pivot to AI-native developer experiences across every surface where customers meet ElastiCache: the AWS Console and AWS Assistant, client libraries, IDEs, MCP servers and skills, autonomous coding agents, and AI-native platforms like Vercel. You will also drive the AI enablement of our new internal operations console, used daily by more than 300 developers and support engineers, bringing its data to agents through MCP, Slack and an in-console assistant.

Observability - You will own the end-to-end observability experience for ElastiCache and MemoryDB across the full stack, from the console through our backend services down to the Valkey engine. This includes OpenTelemetry-based detailed metrics in CloudWatch, PromQL-powered alarms and dashboards, and richer command and slow logs that help customers get to the root cause of latency events in minutes. Where it makes sense, your team will contribute these capabilities to open-source Valkey so customers get a consistent experience everywhere.

You will help your team think through customer experience and technology choices from first principles, solving interesting usability and engineering-at-scale challenges across frontend, backend and data plane.

If you have a passion for building developer experiences that customers love, care about how developers and AI agents discover, build on and operate cloud services, and have experience delivering secure, observable systems across frontend, backend and data plane, we'd love to talk to you! You should be passionate about attracting and developing a truly innovative team that welcomes, celebrates and leverages a diverse set of backgrounds and skill sets to deliver results. Driving results through others is your primary responsibility, and doing so in a way that builds on our inclusive culture is key to our long-term success. We're looking for a new teammate who is enthusiastic, empathetic, curious, motivated, reliable and able to work effectively with a diverse team of peers: someone who will help us amplify the positive and inclusive team culture we've been building.

We value work-life balance. Most days our whole team is together in the Dublin office, and we're flexible when someone occasionally needs to work remotely. Core in-office hours are 10am to 4pm; some of us start earlier and others stay later. As builder-operators of our services, managers share a modest on-call rotation, about once every 1-2 months. We don't like being paged at night or on weekends, so we invest in fault-tolerant systems, and when we do get paged, we fix the root cause together so the same issue doesn't page us twice.

We're committed to the growth of everyone on the team, including our software development managers. You'll help shape the culture and direction of our wider AWS organization and lead site-wide initiatives that make life better for every team in Dublin. As we scale, hire and develop more leaders, your scope and influence will grow with us.

Utility Computing (UC) AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS’s services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (Iot), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS. Within AWS UC, Amazon Dedicated Cloud (ADC) roles engage with AWS customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.

Key job responsibilities An ideal candidate for this role is someone who: - Is great fun to work with. Our credo is "Work hard. Have fun. Make history." You love what you do and instinctively know how to make work fun for those around you. - Loves being a people manager. Building, motivating and mentoring a world-class engineering team is the most important part of this role. You create a clear team vision and multi-year roadmap for developer experience and observability, and turn it into SMART goals for the team and for individuals. - Is intensely customer focused. You understand developers' challenges across the console, client libraries, IDEs and AI agents, and you use data, from usage metrics to customer feedback, to decide what to build next. - Brings strong project and product management skills. You deliver complex work across frontend, backend and data plane, and partner closely with product managers, UX designers and peer teams such as CloudWatch and the Valkey open-source community. - Leads AI transformation. You are curious about AI-native development, help your team adopt AI tools in how they build, and bring AI into the experiences you ship to customers and internal operators. - Raises the operational bar. You treat observability, security and operational excellence as features, both for customers and for your own services. - Communicates clearly and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
